Joint Operations Demo

The demo for Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, NovaLogic's multiplayer first-person shooter, is now available for download from NVIDA's nZone. The 233 MB demo features "one 'Twin Island' multiplayer map with day and night settings. The demo will be playable over the NovaWorld Games Network and via LAN. Other features in the demo include: Up to 100 player games via NovaWorld with 32 players on a LAN, 19 land sea and air drivable vehicles, 27 Weapons, (and) 5 classes: Rifleman, Gunner, Engineer, Sniper & Medic." Mirrors are available on 3D Gamers, Filerush (torrent), Gamer's Hell, and Worthplaying.

Since I disliked 'Land Warrior' and 'Black Hawk Down', I wasn't expecting much from 'Joint Operations'. However, after about three prolonged rounds, I'll admit it's somewhat enjoyable - but I doubt I'll be buying it. Maybe playing 'Far Cry' has jaded me a bit, because 'Joint Operations' looks pretty bland visually (even on the highest settings). The gameplay is ok - some here seem to think it's not like the Battlefield games, but I hold the contrary opinion. Nor did I see much evidence of teamplay - mainly a bunch of guys all called Wombat, team-killing the hell out of each other. I imagine that can be dealt with to an extent, and although it's quite fun, I can't see myself parting with my cash for the full release...
