Space Empires 5

The Malfador Website (thanks Frans) has word of plans for another installment in the Space Empires series:

Just wanted to let everyone know that programming work has begun on Space Empires V. We're shooting for a summer 2005 release of Space Empires V. We've got big plans for this next version including real-time 3D rendered graphics, a redesigned user interface, infinite technologies, Galactic News, Warp Point assault weapons, Space Monsters, built in support for mod selection, a true scripting language, and more! In the coming months we'll be putting up a Space Empires V page showing off the latest screenshots and design issues. And as always, we'd love to hear any suggestions you have for the game. Feel free to let us know what your must have features are ( Here's to an exciting year!

SE4 = Best turn-based space expansion game ever.

The whole series is a micromanager's wetdream, and the complexity involved (especially with some of the mods, I recomend the DevNull mod) is outstanding. The game can bog down a bit when you get to the latter stages of the game (because you have just so many planets and ships to keep track of), but anyone who hasn't tried this series should do so ASAP. I can't wait to see how this fifth game shapes up.
