EA Signs Gas Powered Games

Electronic Arts and Gas Powered Games Sign Publishing Agreement (thanks Frans) is the press release announcing that GPG, previously published by Microsoft, has signed-on with EA. Word is: "The two companies have partnered to create a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game for the PC. The new title is slated for release in 2006. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed."

Apologies for the delay in my reply. Good to see that I've "rocked the boat" a little

Or how about making an intelligent response instead of just being a worthless troll?

Perhaps if there was something intelligent in your post to begin with I might provide you with the same courtesy. As it is, your post is just another "Fuck <insert big-name publisher name here>", so it appears I'm feeding the trolls; sorry.

Ok then, let's address your assertions: BF:1942 has just 2 patches? I don't think so; go count them. How about NHL2004? At least 2 patches and 3 roster updates so far. GPG assimilated by EA? Only if they didn't do their contract homework. I suggest GPG would have big issues with making nothing more than a C&C clone, but it's up to them to protect their intellectual property.

Quite frankly, I find your assertions absurd with no basis in fact.

Tell me, how is EA any different than Ubi, MS, Vivendi, et al? No, I don't buy bad or incomplete games. I wait for reviews, demos, and word of mouth before I make a purchase, so I do in fact vote with my dollars. Looking at the EA games I've purchased over 20+ years (sorry to disappoint, no Sims), by far the majority are good if not great. I can't say I've had a lot of experience with their tech support, as I've never had the need to use it.

For someone who is apparently intimately familiar with the anal landscape, perhaps you should worry about leaving your own stinky cavern first. Or maybe your nose deep in EA's moist folds. You seem to be the expert. Let us know which.

I have an MD degree so I know a great deal about the GI tract actually. I also know people who work at EA Canada and have toured their studios. Stellar place if I do say so.

Stinky cavern eh? Sounds like the voice of experience to me

Get your head out of your ass and get a grip on reality.

Or how about making an intelligent response instead of just being a worthless troll? You think EA's great, good for you. Keep contributing to them and thus, the main problem with the games industry today. You can go back to playing Sims now.

Ewwwww ..... and you guys give me a hard time about HAP Syndrome?

And as for the gamescheduled to be released in 2006, better make it end of 2007 as the expected street date - you know it will be delayed

Damnit! I don't want to wait to 2006, what kind of crap is that? If they said summer 2005 it would have been ok, but 2006? WTF!!

That rts better be awesome and by that i mean it better get up to the level of the original total annihilation.

Still 2006 is so long away, maybe they want to release in late 2004 but say 2006 just to be sure.... well i can hope for that anyway

Because it's easy to see what EA does to games they publish. Push them out way before they're ready, patch them twice and cut them loose. EA's also famous for how much they curtail creative freedom at developers. This is not good at all. If you want to see Total Annihilation look and act just like Command & Conquer, then maybe you won't mind this.

Atari owns the rights to TA (which might be worse the EA).

-TA developed by CaveDog, published by the late GT Interactive
-CaveDog and properties absorbed into GT Interactive (or were they already owned from the upstart?)
-GT Interactive completely bought out by Infogrames
-Infogrames absorbs newely bought company and extinguishes the GT brand name. All one in the same
-Infogrames acquires Atari

Atari is now a French held namesake.

Nope..Atari owns the rights to TA (which might be worse the EA). I thought I seen something not to long ago that said Atari was making TA2.

Well, so much for GPG... the latest in a long string of companies to be absorbed and (eventually) destroyed from within by EA.
