Out of the Blue

Well it looks like I've got my Battlefield Vietnam issue mostly sorted out, thanks to the folks who suggested trying the Miles 2D audio option for sound... I guess with three different EAX settings in the options, I got all carried away with the idea that one of them would actually work with my EAX sound card. I still experience regular crashes when trying my hand at flying in an instant battle on Operation Flaming Dart, but haven't had any problems in online play (though I haven't tried to play that map online). Anyway, I'm finally in country... man, did MrCoffee, Devicer, and I have fun playing last night... good stuff.

Realy, a Civil War sim in this genre would be a pretty good game. Besides infantry you could man the rail-mounted cannons, play blockade-runner missions, take charge of the Confederate submaring Hunley, etc.

Theres a revolutionary war mod for Half Life call Battlegrounds - http://www.bgmod.com/

I haven't personally played it but a couple of buddies said it made a nice change of pace from the other HL mods. I know is not the same but its closer than CS

As for crawling through the jungle, thats possibly the best bit about the whole game, certainly the most suspense filled . Not knowing if a sniper is lying in wait or if there's a whole platoon behind the next bush. Its even worse in the evening/night maps as the degraded light conditions make it harder to seperate friend from foe at a distance.
