Well it looks like I've got my Battlefield Vietnam issue mostly sorted out,
thanks to the folks who suggested trying the Miles 2D audio option for sound...
I guess with three different EAX settings in the options, I got all carried away
with the idea that one of them would actually work with my EAX sound card. I still experience regular crashes when trying my hand at flying in an instant
battle on Operation Flaming Dart, but haven't had any problems in online play
(though I haven't tried to play that map online). Anyway, I'm finally in country... man, did MrCoffee, Devicer,
and I have fun playing last night... good stuff.

Realy, a Civil War sim in this genre would be a pretty good game. Besides infantry you could man the rail-mounted cannons, play blockade-runner missions, take charge of the Confederate submaring Hunley, etc.

I haven't personally played it but a couple of buddies said it made a nice change of pace from the other HL mods. I know is not the same but its closer than CS
As for crawling through the jungle, thats possibly the best bit about the whole game, certainly the most suspense filled . Not knowing if a sniper is lying in wait or if there's a whole platoon behind the next bush. Its even worse in the evening/night maps as the degraded light conditions make it harder to seperate friend from foe at a distance.
