5 and a half gigs insall? Are they NUTS? Anyone know of any other game that requires that much or more?
Who cares, when you can get a 200GB drive for $80 now? It's about time games started pushing beyond the typical 1-2GB of disk usage. 5.5GB is easily surpassed by a small movie, anime, or [decent-sized] MP3 collection.
Game installation sizes haven't kept up with disk sizes if you look back a bit. Wing Commander 2 w/ Speech Pack and Special Operations 1 and 2 was 26MB. Back then you were doing good with a 40MB hard drive! Or maybe a little later on, 150MB, which was really nice. Let's say you had a 150MB drive. So WC2 would take 26/150 = 17.3% of the drive. Now let's say you have a dinky little 40GB drive on your gaming PC of today. 17.3% of that is 7GB! 17.3% of a 200GB drive is 34GB!!
Games are supposed to push the envelope. As long as the space isn't wasted on stupid stuff, and there aren't 50,000 little files, they're on the right track IMO.
