Far Cry Gold

The Far Cry Website (thanks Quboid) has word that Crytek's upcoming first-person shooter is now gold: "Ubisoft and Crytek are proud to announce that Far Cry™ has gone gold! The game is scheduled to release in the UK on March 26th." Ubisoft's Far Cry Site (thanks Lee Dixon) has now likewise been updated: "We are happy to announce that Far Cry has gone gold. The game will ship worldwide on March 25th."

I must be a damn picky gamers. I haven't seen anything I would consider "good" come out yet this year. Far Cry is ok, but the demos were kinda boring.

Still waiting for the good stuff to drop.

I am sure that I read somewhere that it’s CD’s for the US and DVD for Europe.

As far as I know the german version will be DVD only, and most likely also the UK version. No info on U.S. versions though. BTW I'm pretty impressed that one of our few german studios managed to create such a cool shooter.

AFAIK, there will be CD and DVD versions, maybe DVD-only in Europe.

Hmm, then why is there only one version for sale on EB and Ubi's website? And why doesn't it mention that the game is shipping on DVD since it is listed as a requirement? Something is weird about that.

Also, why does the bonus include: "Pre-order Far Cry and receive the Far Cry "Trip Planner" CD along with the massive 500MB Far Cry Demo Disc." Who wants the demo with the full game? Or does that mean they will send the demo disc as soon as you preorder?

After being on the MP Beta, I can assure you it plays like shiat regardless of the bandwidth! Just hope they fixed it in the past month.

Ant: If you read the provided docs, I believe they recommend the cat 3.9s and nothing else. The latest DNA drivers work for me, and I run an AIW 9700pro. I also found I had major problems with the first demo if the out of game settings for D3D (which I used as the renderer) had any FSAA or AA set; these settings in game made no difference (except minor performance hits). However, I was in the MP beta, and both out of application and in applications settings worked fine with no corruption whatsoever, and it seems that the out of game settings were used rather than in game settings when the game was running. On top of that, the framerate was WAY better, and much much more stable.

Hey Ant, the build that the demo uses only officially supports v3.9 of the ati drivers... but I have no problems with my 9800pro using the latest drivers.

They said Far Cry would be DVD only. As someone else said the AI was left somewhat to be desired. After all the beauty they created with lush tropical islands I'm suddenly jarred out of the immersivness by a damn mercenary trapped behind a palm tree spinning round like he's caught in a whirlwind. Argh!.

FarCry, UT2004, Painkiller, BF:Vietnam and Pandora Tommorow

With all these great games coming out within a month of one another I really hope they do not cancel one another out. Can just about afford it... Maybe.

Why did they have to all appear at the same time, oh Lord? Why??? Are you punishing us for wanting Half Life 2 too much???
