Out of the Blue

It looks like escaping season is on again here at the BlueTower, as letting Hudson the wonder dog out into the backyard today resulted in her mysterious reappearance at the front door. Actually not that mysterious... she must have hopped or climbed the fence, which means areas of our fencing that were previously suspected of being too short, are now confirmed as such. I'm going to take a look at how best to secure things for the time being, but I'm beginning to fear that this is a problem that's not going to be solved until a taller fence is built... or maybe a dome.

Hey! The odds on 'Sopranos' whackings (thanks Mike Martinez) offers the lines. For amusement only, please, no wagering. Spoiler warning (from last season).

Lonestar, I know a little about people, and enough about you to say you must be feeling pretty bad on the inside to continue posting that same drivel...

At least I am inventive when I want other people to feel bad about themselves.

The difference is Palsy, err Halsy, that I don't find any of it entertaining, nor do I feel the need to post about it with Internet peeps either. That's where the sad, pathetic bunch comes in, "hey! Let's talk about it!"

Obviously the only original news (that is, something that isn't nothing more than a hyperlink to someone else's work) written here can be found in this section, and it seems to be the most interesting to many because apparently their lives or even more boring than the one telling the stories.

As far as the smittens link goes, my guess is Blue did something to upset the wife so he had to let her pick out today's LOD. So it should have read:

Link of the Day: Smittens. Thanks Mrs. Blue (I'm sorry).

For Hudson...

For Godzilla....

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down

Helpless people on a subway train
Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them

He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town

Oh no, they say he's got to go
Go go Godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla, yeah

Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Godzilla ga Ginza hoomen e mukatte imasu!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!

Oh no, they say he's got to go
Go go Godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla, yeah

History shows again and again
How nature points up the folly of men

Here is a novel idea for keeping your dog from jumping over your fence.

Give your dog big fat double D breast implants

It will keep your dog from running too much, being able to jump high off the ground, and when you get lonely....

I would vote no. I've seen several well behaved dogs become mini-Cujos after the fence is installed. If anything it made them even more territorial and eager to defend their turf. This can be bad news for meter readers and or delivery people. If your dog bites someone that comes on your property to perform a service (even without your prior knowledge) be prepared for the lawsuit.

I'd go with a higher fence first.

Good points.

I do not think electric shock fence thingies should be used as the only barrier.
I believe they are ideal to use to reinforce an already existing barrier.
If you already have a fence that takes some work to get over, adding this to it should help a lot. And since it is not the only thing stopping them, the shock should need to be the very minimum

If I had HBO I might check it out, but I never could get into the mob-movie genre so I'm not so sure I'd enjoy it.

I'm into the mob-movie genre, so I think I'd like it, but I've seen only about half of one episode. Sometime in like the 2nd season I managed to catch an episode, but I was so lost about who everyone was and what they were doing it wasn't worth watching the whole thing.

That being said, perhaps I wouldn't like the show even if I watched it from the beginning. I always hear people raving about these awesome shows on some premium channel, but then when I get a chance to see the show it completely sucks. I won't name any specific examples, but let's just say that's happened with, oh, about all of them.

If I had HBO I might check it out

A lot of video store chains seem to be renting out the discs from the box sets. It'd be a good way to decide if you like it...

I think Blue's concerns are probably valid. The effectiveness of the fence really depends on the breed and personality of the dog. Chances are that Starsky's german sheperd is a much more trainable (less stubborn?) dog than HtWD.

A friend of mine had a basset hound that would run through the barrier whenever she had enough motivation (ie. another dog on the outside). Eventually she ran off never to be seen again, one of the reasons I never installed one of these systems for my beagle.
