I never said it was better than EVERY other RPG, just the ones I have played.

Actually, I specifically said:
why is this game better than EVERY other RPG you have played?

And my question still stands...why, why, why, why, why, why, why? I was wondering WHY it is better? You seem to be avoiding this question.

And lastly, why is DD better than every other RPG you have played? As in, for what reason is DD better than every other RPG you have played? Is there a reason why...could you explain why...why?

Does that acutally increase the distance my character can see on the big screen

Yes, train Elven Sight 2 times and you should find it alot better. I havent gone beyond that because I dont really need to see farther than the screen. Ranger Sight I havent bothered to train.

There are also item in game that raise your "Sight" skill, but doesnt affect Elven or Ranger Sight, so I assume those are a boost to your lit radius, not really sure.

I have played computer games since the early 80's starting with the "Spectrum ZX", "Commodore 64" C128, Amiga, and the IBM series of computers. I think I have played enough games/RPG's to have a valid frame of reference when it comes to passing judgement on a game.

Fair enough, but why is this game better than EVERY other RPG you have played? And, again, since you didn't answer my question, which games do you think DD is better than specifically?
It is just stunning to me that you could consider this game better than, say, Planescape Torment et alia.

In anticipation of Beyond Divinity (and Sacred, which looks a lot better, imo) I booted back up DivDiv. I've played for a couple of hours and am enjoying it except for the ridiculous fogging. It was mentioned here that I could train up a skill that would help that. Does that acutally increase the distance my character can see on the big screen (which is my biggest beef with the game) or just on the mini map (of which I could care less). Any help here would be appreciated. Rick

Divine Divinity is, by far, the best RPG that I have every played; No other game comes even close in creating a living, breathing world as DD.

I think that means you haven't played enough RPGs, but I am interested to know why exactly you loved that game and what other games you think it outshines.

heh yep, it's really really bad, so bad that I cringed everytime I heard it, it's so damn cheesy I couldn't take it anymore and uninstalled it. the game isn't all that hot anyway...

Agreed. Does anyone remember the voice for the tutorial in Warcraft III? Holy hell that was terrible. I thought for sure they kicked a staff member in the balls and shoved a script in his hand. Luckily that guy disappeared after the tutorial, cause the rest of the voices were excellent....I don't think I could have handled listening to that tool throughout the whole game.

when that deathknight was talking to me I kept thinking of the time Mr. Burns was mocking the Germans

It actually reminded me of a really bad Agent Smith impression...which is pretty darn close to Mr. Burns

voice acting? gimme a fuckin break man... if you play RPGs for the VO work - you DEFINATELY need a new hobby

Voice over is part of a whole package. If you are going to have bad voice acting in a game then do do it at all, just use text. Bad voice acting can really detract a person from the immersion of a game.

i thought it was common knowledge that gaming VOs sucked balls... in case you didnt know... IT IS

Actually Divine Divinity's voice acting is excellent. Far better than Beyond Divinity's is.

if you want pro VO work, come hang out while Im recording corporate advertisements... otherwise, live with it

Get over yourself.

Simmer the fuck down space captain. It's the little things that make a game great. If gaming VO sucks balls then I guess you haven't heard of a few little games called Star Wars KOTR, Beyond Good and Evil, Mafia, etc. Hell, even the Max Payne games had great voice acting (even though the dialogue was over-the-top). Don't be stupid. Voice acting is an important part of games. When I start up a game and am staring a deathknight in the face, I am not really sucked into the story when he sounds like my 14 year old neighbor. And, btw, I am "living with it". This is a FORUM and I gave my OPINION. Now, go play your precious game and STFU.
To the sane members left in the forum: when that deathknight was talking to me I kept thinking of the time Mr. Burns was mocking the Germans.
"Oh no...the Deathknight is going to get me! Smithers, save me from the Deathknight."

that may be true space captain, but i wish games like these would allow us to turn the dialouge off at least. i think the black isle / bioware games did fairly well with voice acting, and early lucas arts adventures, specifically grim fandango, were amazing.
