Battlefield Vietnam Gold

EA sends word that the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Battlefield 1942 is gold, and is due in stores on March 15:
EA is pleased to announce that Battlefield Vietnam has officially gone gold for the PC. The game is set to ship nationwide to retailers under the EA GAMES brand on Monday, March 15.

The Battlefield franchise is entering a new era with more firepower and beautiful yet ferocious new combat settings. Offering an arsenal of weapons and vehicles authentic to the Vietnam conflict, players will battle in first-person perspective. Staying true to the over-the-top, action-packed multiplayer style that gave Battlefield 1942 its critical and commercial success, Battlefield Vietnam will drop players into some of the Vietnam War’s fiercest battles. Fighting in theatres from jungles surrounding the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue, players will choose from two well-equipped forces, the United States or the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Vietcong. All of this action will be accompanied by the sounds of an authentic Vietnam era soundtrack to immerse the player into an experience similar to that of a Hollywood film.

Battlefield Vietnam was developed by Swedish based Digital Illusions' Canadian office and is rated “T” (Teen) by the ESRB. The game’s official website is www.battlefield.ea.com

Yes choices, choice, choices...Now which to get? UT2k4 or BFV? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. They both have vehicles, A+, they both have lots of guns, A+, they both have excellent graphics although UT2k4 has a slight edge, A+. Since they both have more or less the same, it's about realism vs nonrealism. I think I'll take BFV just cause it's realistic with an action feel to it. Cheers!

See the darkness fall. That's UT2004 being eclipsed by BF-Vietnam. Let's face it. The vehicles in UT2004 are arcadish at best. Heck, they even bounce off the terrain like pinballs. It's BF-Vietnam all the way for me.

Remember when everyone used to argue that good graphics didn't mean the game was good?

The modern day equivalent is vehicles... good vehicles != good game.

A gold March month Mar 2, 2004, 21:25

Just picked up Ninja Gaiden, next week Twin snakes, then the following week BF:Vietnam and Unreal 2004, then the following week FarCry, and Splinter cell, then the following week Resident evil: Outbreak.. Then next month comes the mother of all games : Doom 3.. Does anyone else see this month as to go down in history as the Quality and the quantity on new games ever released in such a short time period. Why are all these major games being released in March and not saving some for fall or holiday season??? Anyways im all hopefull for BF:Vietnam I hope it lives up to 1942. I still think the Battlefield franchise brought new life to multiplayer games, in terms of freedom, and tatics, the game is always a different experience every time you play it and hardly ever gets old I hope Vietnam brings more interesting elements- picking up helicopters and tanks anyways now I wonder when Half-Life 2 will end up shipping with Doom 3 ready to roll?

I'm going for UT2k4. BFV doesn't look that different from it's predecessor and the increased focus on infantry combat doesn't bode well given how poor infantry combat was in 42.

Prostitute your virgin anus, Dan. It'll probably net you 5 bucks or so.

BTW is this just an expansion or stand alone product?

Yeah, and demo?

It all comes down to the fun factor to me, to heck with realism.
Not only that I've never had much luck with the netcode in BF1942. One game would be great then the next would zoog. I don't have that problem with other games... Go figure. Will that improve with this game??? Dunno...

I just think UT2k4 will be more fun, that Onslaught is WAY fun!

I can wait on BF:V for a couple of months. I was too impressed by UT2k4 to pass it up, especially with the EB special they have. Second purchase will be a toss-up between Ninja Gaiden and Far Cry (leaning towards Ninja Gaiden). Then theres Soldner, The Suffering and Painkiller following a week or two later....then Doom 3....

need....cash....

I'll probably pick up UT2004 at some point, but BF:V feeds my Apocalypse Now obsession, he he.

Now all I need is a map where I can catch a 6 foot Mekong Delta break in the middle of an NVA firefight. Surfin' bird, baby.

EA sent a notice to its registered users of BF1942 for 10 dollars off (with free shipping I think too) but I still can't afford it. I need to buy food.
