EA sends word that the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Battlefield 1942 is
gold, and is due in stores on March 15:
EA is pleased to announce that Battlefield Vietnam has officially gone gold for the PC. The game is set to ship nationwide to retailers under the EA GAMES brand on Monday, March 15.
The Battlefield franchise is entering a new era with more firepower and beautiful yet ferocious new combat settings. Offering an arsenal of weapons and vehicles authentic to the Vietnam conflict, players will battle in first-person perspective. Staying true to the over-the-top, action-packed multiplayer style that gave Battlefield 1942 its critical and commercial success, Battlefield Vietnam will drop players into some of the Vietnam War’s fiercest battles. Fighting in theatres from jungles surrounding the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue, players will choose from two well-equipped forces, the United States or the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Vietcong. All of this action will be accompanied by the sounds of an authentic Vietnam era soundtrack to immerse the player into an experience similar to that of a Hollywood film.
Battlefield Vietnam was developed by Swedish based Digital Illusions' Canadian office and is rated “T” (Teen) by the ESRB. The game’s official website is www.battlefield.ea.com

Well they didn't include rape and killing of civilians in BF1942 so I don't see why they should start now.

A Joystick is a must have. I tried flying with keyboard and mouse for about 5min and there was no way. Then I tried my analog gamepad, still sucked. Permanently borrowed my Dad's nice Logitech joystick with a slider for throttle (the joystick I had was garbage) and have never looked back. "
Actually. I've been using the keyboard since day one and I'm a deadly flyer. It just depends your controls and sensivity you put them at. The plane will react probably better IMO if you have sensivity higher so you can react faster in situations. I don't use the mouse though, only the keyboard when I fly. W,A,S,D and the arrow keys. It's actually quite simple.

First of all, BFV looks alot like an expansion for Bf1942, and should be priced as such. Unless they totally fix the pathetic AI in coop and SP modes, improve the sound quality, and improve on the gameplay from BF1942 (Which is a great game) then why would anyone buy this when Desert Combat and EOD are great free mods for the original? I'm surprised that considering the popularity of Desert Combat, they didn't go with making a full version of that mod instead of Vietnam. Sure, the Americans might have something to prove since they lost that war, and might have a grudge against them still, but come on.. Remember 9/11? Kill Bin Laden, not the Vietnamese! How many Vietnamese terrorists do you think there are?

Never had this frustration from my many hours on UT2004, apart from at end game when a base is vulnerable, and you go charging in with the old Mantra to blow up the generator. Yes you can run respawning players over if they are not quick. But it hardly makes up a significant percentage of my kills.
I'm no fps God by any stretch of the imagination but the only time I get run over is from behind, during a fire fight on some node (oh, as a newb I was fender fodder for a while!). I can dodge almost anyone trying to mow me down in a vehicle 90 % of the time even with short warning, and, annoyingly, so can everyone else when I'm driving one. A base is more cramped for double jumping out the way but it's more cramped for them too.
Still, that's your experience, this is mine.

Also need to change the camera in the plane to be nose cam...press the cockpit cam button twice.
thats the whole point of the mantra...running over people and jumping etc....its would suck to only be able to shoot the crappy plasma gun..slicing off heads is half the game

The idea of the Mantra is to get from point A to B quickly and be able to jump over obstacles. Sure running over people in the way is fun, you can do that with all the vehicles. But you cant spawn camp and be a total loser in the other vehicles.
My brother bought it and I played some of it lately at his place.

I never bought the full BF1942, it had - and still has- too many bug-issues but I pre-ordered BFV and hope that this will be a clean release.
