Battlefield Vietnam Gold

EA sends word that the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Battlefield 1942 is gold, and is due in stores on March 15:
EA is pleased to announce that Battlefield Vietnam has officially gone gold for the PC. The game is set to ship nationwide to retailers under the EA GAMES brand on Monday, March 15.

The Battlefield franchise is entering a new era with more firepower and beautiful yet ferocious new combat settings. Offering an arsenal of weapons and vehicles authentic to the Vietnam conflict, players will battle in first-person perspective. Staying true to the over-the-top, action-packed multiplayer style that gave Battlefield 1942 its critical and commercial success, Battlefield Vietnam will drop players into some of the Vietnam War’s fiercest battles. Fighting in theatres from jungles surrounding the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the city streets of Hue, players will choose from two well-equipped forces, the United States or the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Vietcong. All of this action will be accompanied by the sounds of an authentic Vietnam era soundtrack to immerse the player into an experience similar to that of a Hollywood film.

Battlefield Vietnam was developed by Swedish based Digital Illusions' Canadian office and is rated “T” (Teen) by the ESRB. The game’s official website is www.battlefield.ea.com

It's pretty good-looking (although not quite what the screenshots tend to imply), and tough as nails. Training mode? ha-ha. shit, you should just be happy they save the ass-mangling till the END of level 1.

Good to hear they kept the challenge factor, Ninja Gaiden 2 was one hard ass game. Never even got past the level following the Scorpion Dude Boss on the mountain side.

I find nowadays it's best to let games sit for a little while instead of run out day 1 and buy.

Games ALWAYS need some pretty major patching so why not let some other guy be the post-beta tester?

The industry has retrained me from buying ASAP to checking out forums to see how much bitching there is and how much of it may affect me (this is why I didnt get LOMAC), then waiting for AT LEAST the first patch.

Sometimes this happens after the game reaches the bargain bin or is at least reduced a little.

They announced awhile back that there will be no demo, at least, initially. I don't trust developers that won't put out a demo. It's like studios not screening a film for critics. Get as many people to buy it before word gets out. I'll wait and see on this one.

will get BFV for sure, but its going to be interesting to see if I enjoy it as much as BF1942. The one thing that keeps bringing me back to BF1942 is the air to air and air to ground combat...specifically with the WW2 planes, it's just a halla lot of fun.

I LOVE RAMON NOODLES!!! Anyways back to this, #9, I'm sure they have tweaked the hell out of the damage zones in Vietnam since it's gonna be more infantry based. I heard it will feel like a new experience to the point that lots of things are different about it from Battlefield aside from having lots of vehicles, huge maps, and lot's of players in a game. After seeing that new video where you can actually see the joystick of the helicopter move as you fly it whatever direction, you can see they put a lot more work into details in this one. The reload animations are A+ also. Can't wait for it! Oh ya and now that I think about it, UT2k4 vehicles feel abit like C&C Renegades did. They were fun in the beginning though lose coolness fast where as Battlefield the vehicles are integrated into combat. Cheers!

And it really sucks that people are already exploiting the Mantra vehicle by spawn camping and just running over people. That vehicle should definitely not have a jump ability.

thats the whole point of the mantra...running over people and jumping etc....its would suck to only be able to shoot the crappy plasma gun..slicing off heads is half the game

UT2k4 Im starting to think I may pick up just for the sake of having it. I tried the demo today for the first time and its not bad, however the lasting appeal may not be all that good. EA sent a notice to its registered users of BF1942 for 10 dollars off (with free shipping I think too) but I still can't afford it. I need to buy food.

I'll probably pick up UT2004 at some point, but BF:V feeds my Apocalypse Now obsession, he he.

Now all I need is a map where I can catch a 6 foot Mekong Delta break in the middle of an NVA firefight. Surfin' bird, baby.

I can wait on BF:V for a couple of months. I was too impressed by UT2k4 to pass it up, especially with the EB special they have. Second purchase will be a toss-up between Ninja Gaiden and Far Cry (leaning towards Ninja Gaiden). Then theres Soldner, The Suffering and Painkiller following a week or two later....then Doom 3....

need....cash....

It all comes down to the fun factor to me, to heck with realism.
Not only that I've never had much luck with the netcode in BF1942. One game would be great then the next would zoog. I don't have that problem with other games... Go figure. Will that improve with this game??? Dunno...

I just think UT2k4 will be more fun, that Onslaught is WAY fun!
