Out of the Blue

I spent some time today working on a glitch that has been making to difficult to retrieve my mail here recently (probably with limited success). Along the way I caught up with a bunch of stuff that got backlogged as a result, almost entirely consisting of hardware reviews, hence today's inflated list.

The funny thing is Sony has a policy about not selling your SWG accounts in the EULA. I wonder how this will go down.

My guess was that it was footage of the radio controlled full size plane they crashed on purpose years ago for safety tests - the one you see on discovery or TLC every once in a while, when they talk new jet fuel or plane safety and so on...

There's a man out there I haven't seen in 15 years who's trying to kill me.

MOTD is not real... it's a european ad. A B737's front strut could never withstand that kind of stress... remember that an aircraft is made of lightweight composites... that kind of slamming action would punch the front gear right up into the fuselage.

Also, that plane has a made-up livery, and the wheels are far too large for the plane. There's no delay between action and sound (there would be from that distance) and there's no reason that a pilot would be making those kinds of adjustments that late in the final approach. Lastly, there's no control on the plane to put the nose down. if a plane is gonna bounce like that, the speed is so high that as soon as the nose points back up, the plane will take off again. That's the pilot's cue to jam the throttles and go around for another try.

Thats a wierd ebay bid... Unless the reserve was 15000, and for shits and giggles they bid more just so they wouldn't get outbid... It doesn't make any sense. I don't believe it.

What does someone have to do to be able to spend that much money on a MMO character? Just exctally when does $15,000 become a trivial amount of cash, and what jobs qualify for allowing that?

The altoids game stopped on me, god damn I spent 15 minuets playing the game, I almost beat it and it dies... go figure.

You have to be a complete self-centered, self-indulgent asshole to sink almost $15,000 US on a MMORPG character.

Its none of your business and its not your money, why-should-it-bother-you blah, blah, blah... hehe, you happy now, Hump?

hehe, couldn't resist obliging you, guy.

Is it just me, or did anyone else notice that the bidding started at $1,200, and ended at ~$15k with a total of TWO bids both at $15K. Gee, someone really didnt want to bid $1300, but just had to give their money away...

Maybe he meant to pay $1500, but put in an extra '0' by accident? That would suck.

I was quite a bit further than that... near the end, I'd guess. Then 'LOADING' came up, and it hung. When I reloaded the page, it started over from the beginning and I didn't feel like going through it all again.

Actually, as weird as it sounds I think there might be something intentional to all that - after all, Jimmy Page (as well as the whole band) was a HUGE Aleister Crowley Fan, he even bought the house where Crowley lived, performed a large number of extreme rituals in and recorded results on the walls, etc. etc.. and Crowley was one of the most famous crafters of secret messages in all of history

Oh, god. It's so funny to hear Stairway to Heaven backwards again. I haven't thought about it in years, but about 20 years ago a friend put the record abulm (anyone remember those?) on the turntable and started to spin it backwards and it sounded just like that. We got so freaked we ran out of the room! <g> I've always wondered if they had recording technology to record different words going backwards in the '70's or if it is just an errie coincidence that we think we hear those words out of the sounds made.
