Dreamfall, Poacher Unveiled

Funcom announces Dreamfall as the official title of the project previously only referred to as the upcoming sequel to The Longest Journey. There are not many new details about the project, except word that the game is being funded in part with assistance of the Norsk Filmfond, which normally subsidizes film-oriented projects. Also, the folks behind Poacher, an upcoming illegal hunting game that pits the player against game wardens as well as game, announce their hunt for a publisher for the project.

Zardillo -

Check in Amazon for "Lucas Archives" - they are selling like four different volumes - search through them to find the game combinations you want.

Grim Fandango works under XP no problems. Nothing special you would need to do to make it run. Under Win2K, you did have to download the latest compatability updates (now included in the services packs), but XP should run it just fine.

I haven't had a chance to try the Broken Sword titles yet, but I would definitely second the motion about Grim Fandango. That was game innovation unparalleled. While Syberia was not TLJ (which also was probably my favourite game of all time), I was actually quite impressed with it and would recommend it highly. I'm eagerly awaiting that sequel as well. I hope they don't make TLJ go full 3D as part of what made the game amazing was the gorgeous backdrops. But we'll see where engines are then too...

Wow..... that sounds like a great package..... by any chance are there any online stores in the UK that sell that package that might ship to the US? I'd definitely love that..... I remember The Dig too and I actually enjoyed that one an awful lot. Would be very cool to have them all in one package that were updated to run under 2K/XP. If I do buy one of those $10 LucasArts jewel-case only releases of Grim Fandango, is there anything special I'll need to do to get it to run under XP?

Yeah, I can't believe I haven't tried Grim Fandango yet (I didn't own a PC at the time it came out). I've seen it in stores for like $10, so I'll definitely try and pick it up.

If you live in the UK, there's a package that includes Sam N Max, The Dig, Grim Fandango, and Full Throttle, all designed to run under 2K/XP...Why Lucasarts never released them in the states is beyond me.

Not a recent game by any means, but check out Grim Fandango - loads of fun, and characters had a ton of personality to them

As long as we're on the subject, does anyone have any recommendations for adventure games that have come out recently that might be good if you enjoyed TLJ a lot? I've seen some of these other games at the store (like Syberia, Broken Sword, etc.) but wasn't sure which were and weren't any good. Even reading reviews, etc. didn't give me much of a sense. If there's any games out there that you think would be particularly appealing to adventure game fans who especially enjoy TLJ, please share.

EEESh. look at the screenshot of their main "character" roman sars or whatever his name is... possibly the worst game art i've ever seen, and they actually bothered to RENDER it and post it up there. But considering the concept for the game, not really surprising.

I recall reading a short interview (which I'll try to dig up after I post this) by the lead developer for TLJ commenting on what he wanted to do for the sequel. Full 3D, nothing pre-rendered is what stood out to me. So it's not like Syberia 1 -> Syberia 2 department.

...you can still buy The Longest Journey in stores. It is *far* deeper than Syberia and disturbingly insightful in some ways.

Oddly enough I never played TLJ, and I like adventure games... I think it came out in one of my "poor and unwilling to work at mcdonalds" stages I go through. I wonder if I could still order it or something, its probably fairly cheep now.

A game about poaching? Wow that's noble. Are we out of game design ideas already?

TLJ is probably my favorite game of all time, I don't know how I'm going to wait two more years for the sequel...

Man, I am so glad this project is moving forward..... can't wait to hear more about it. I loved "The Longest Journey", and I think especially now with the passage of time I think it has solidifed itself as being deserving of being called a classic in the adventure game genre. I can't wait to see what is in store for this new game.
