4 weapons out of how many is in the full? 6?

I collected the souls and went into that blurry B&W mode which looked pretty cool.

The blade weapon doesnt slice them up for me. They bounce about like i merely kick them. Ive looked in the settings and can find no option to increase any gore so im assuming it just doesnt work for me as all that happens is a little bit of blood spurts out and they remain intact - yeah they gib when they explode but once you stake them and attack them the blade gun or attack a body on the ground nothing happens other than a quick kickaround.

I like twitch shooters, serious sam 1 and SE are two of my favourite games of all time and the only FPS games i have even bothered to complete in the past few years. But this isnt anywhere near as playable its just a bit dull.

... i feel a little let down, mainly by the crap weapons. Theres just no power to them as such.

You are basing this from seeing 4 weapons, all with alternate fire. Did you even use the combo attacks with the Stake/Grenade gun, and the Nail/Lightning gun? How about Juggling corpses with the lazer grapple for extra gold? Did you even know there were combos? Im guessing not.

I dont know why people are getting worked up about the stake gun, its pretty weak. What use is staking someone to a wall if they vanish in a puff of smoke a few seconds later.

Did you know that you need to collect the souls? Every 50 souls you collect you get a brief god mode/super gun combo thing. Time it right and it comes in very handy. I'm guessing you didnt know this either.

Wheres the gore too, you can hammer away at someone with the primary fire of your default weapon slicing and dicing and nothing happens. Be better if they mashed up into limbs spraying blood everywhere but instead you get a little spurt of blood and they just knock about like your kicking them.

No gore? Did you play the same demo I did? I put a stake through a zombies head and blood go spurting everywhere.
Use the Grenade/Stack gun combo and watch bodies gib. Or use the Blade weapon and chop bodies up into pieces.

I can understand some people not liking it because its a straight up twitch shooter.

But all I can say is, you sir on are on crack.

As for the lack of gore, turn up the settings and it starts to get messy, althougth its not as bad as it could be

This is no serious sam game unfortunately. I was looking forward to this big time but i feel a little let down, mainly by the crap weapons. Theres just no power to them as such.

The boss is very impressive though on the 3rd level of the demo. The level itself is pretty cool too reminding me of the weird level on Undying set in the sky where stone slabs are flying about and what not.

Overall its a bit of a let down and i cant see me buying this game.
(im)Patiently waiting for Serious Sam 2

Truth,

I wanted to take time out to thank you for your advice! I downloaded from another site and was successful. THank you.

THIS GAME ROCKS!! I love Stupid FPS's with AWESOME Ragdoll physics! Clearly the models aren't of Doom3 calibur. Currently Nothing is! However, this is better than Duke Nukem Forever's player models and the current crop of DirectX9. This is a winner like Farcry meets Dawn of the Dead!

Just isn't very exciting to me. Feels like Will Rock, Serious Sam all over again, this time with Vampires and Zombies.

The sole reason why the game intrigues me so much.

To each his own I guess.

"Terrible level design"

...or a marketing niche? Somehow i think they know that but are betting there are ppl out there who will like the simplicity of gameplay. i dunno, it's got a retro feel to it. It just makes me yearn for the next Hexen or Heretic game. Something with more depth. Your post is spot on.

Walk into the room, door closes behind you and in front of you... kill the monsters... door opens up... go past door... door closes behind you and in front of you... rinse/repeat.

Terrible level design

- nice texture work
- neato physics that stop wowing in 10 minutes
- ho hum weapons, i dont think staking someone to a wall is going to entertain me for months, sorry folks
- quakeworld multiplayer? yay! I'll believe it when I see it, i sure hope the weapons are balanced.

If the game delivers the multiplayer experience its being hyped for, I might buy it at a serious sam price.

Still kind of in the middle with this one

Thats why they 'should' release the MP Demo before going gold instead of after. Like you, most of my friends said they liked the SP Demo but were waiting to try out MP before buying. I think they would attrack a lot of the people who are 'on the fence' if they showed that the MP kicked ass. I want to play the SP portion of the game but I also want to have some fun LAN gaming with my friends so if the MP sucks then I will have to wait for a PK price drop for $40 to at least $30. I think they are making a mistake by not releasing a MP demo a week or two before gold status.

Playing with FRAPS enabled, the slowdown only happens when performance gets low. Animation/speed is likely tied into the framerate (how they adjust for it.)

Still kind of in the middle with this one,

Sure Its fun to blow stuff up for a few minutes but it gets old fast.

As opposed to what other action oriented FPS games that don't have you blow stuff up? I could say that about almost every (action) FPS game thats out right now. So I can assume you don't like UT2Kx, HL 1/2, and Doom 1/2/3 because they have you blow stuff up? If thats the case then why did you even waste your time d/l'ing the demo? Really, I just don't get it. I'm not defending PK by any means, but your gripe is more oriented to all action oriented FPS games, kind of pointless.

I was looking forward to this, but after having played it I can't really say why I look back on Quake with such admiration. I guess because it was the first. They should send this one back to 1996 where it came from...

I go to launch the 228Meg file and ultimately a DOS line window pops up rapidly and then disappears. I pulled the file from my main site 3dgamers.com the non american site as the sites in Indiana and Florida Suck ASS! Any Ideas?? I ran WinRar in hopes of disecting the stand alone file to extract the prog but had no luck. I've opened bigger demos than this before on my 3 GIG GameHorse. Any Help?? Thanx
