UT2004 Bot Voice Control

Beyond Unreal has posted information on how to control the bots in the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo with voice commands by taking advantage of some undocumented features. Thanks HomeLAN Fed.

I had replied to Cyfun when he said:

Gotta make sure you have a good microphone and its set up right, or else instead of "Alpha, Cover Me," the bots might hear "Everyone, Suicide."

hence, why the thread was titled "Re: Works" and not "Re: No Subject" (as it would have been had I replied to your thread ;))

The spaced out colors remain...... but it's less vomit inducing than in the last game.

Things feel a lot better this time around. It's not UT, but that's not a bad thing since i still play UT. Not sure I will buy this yet, but it's tempting.

You should try playing it before you say that.

Currently the demo is the second most played game online, just behind CounterStrike, ahead of Call of Duty, Battlefield, and W:ET.

As far as some of the "undocumented" voice commands... one of the funnier ones is "<bot> dance". Try "everyone dance" for a very funny scene.

Tell me, is the game still clowned up with the goofy colors and screwed up with the adrenaline?

I think it's telling of how little Epic thinks of the Unreal Tournament community when less than 1% of the servers ran with mutators and now, every game is plagued with adrenaline.

The great and wonderful game of Unreal Tournament, with it's dark and haunting atmosphere, got merged with Super Mario World.

Sux. Epic, we're still waiting for the successor to Unreal Tournament and an apology for destroying a once great game and community. The Unreal Tournament scene used to be *full* with players and UT2kX emptied them all out (minus the botz - they seem to be the only ones that like the POS).

The manual makes reference to hidden voice commands that we have to "discover on our own". Has anyone found any?

Yep UT2004 kinda sets a new benchmark for FPS multiplayer games. Have you noticed you can also get the game to read the chat text for you?, it sounds like stephen hawking, but its a cool extra.

Ill have to work on the voice recognition tho, everytime I say "Bravo" it hears "Delta" from some wierd reason..

There is only ONE real WW2 game.

I'm really hoping that people realize how great the UT series is becoming... need more newbies to kill

BTW, there is a badass speech recognition program out there called Shoot that you can assign certain said words or phrases to keyboard macros. Works great for chat binds. Also makes Operation Flashpoint a lot easier. http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/

Ah, yet another cool feature in UT2k4.

I'm looking forward to testing that when I get my SE DVD copy with the included headset.

I trained the voice recognition while I was drunk, I hope I don't have to go through that shit again...

But it actually works, which was surprising.

Heh, the bots are better than 99% of the human players out there. Good job.

This works like a champ, I've had it going for a couple of days now. It would also appear as though the bots remember their last command in-between matches, so if you had them on specialized tasks, don't forget to reset them! (everybody freelance)
