Halo Patch

The Halo: Combat Evolved for Windows Website offers a new version 1.04 client hot-fix and the related dedicated server update: "The GameSpy Security Hot-Fix for Halo for Windows addresses a rare crash bug that could occur if a malicious individual (hacker) purposely tries to exploit the GameSpy CDKey SDK. This hot-fix changes the version number of Halo for Windows and the Halo for Windows Dedicated Server to v1.04 from v1.031." Thanks GameSpot DLX.

Why is everyone always so negative, it's like the glass is always half empty to you all.

Are you people so pathetic that you *need* to see a game fail just because it isn't quite your cup of tea?

Your both new here right?

Halo is not a bad game, in fact its a fairly decent game. It's just not a spetacular game. I am sick and tired of these children who think that if something isn't awesome or doesn't live up to it's hype then that means it is the worst thing in existence. People find one little niggling thing that annoys them, write off the entire product and then pretend that their opinion actually matters and that the game company is a fool for not pandering to their every need.

FWIW I like Halo. I also like UT2k4. There are many other games I also like. Not everything has to be a competition.

Latest thing I heard was MS doesn't want the new patch that improves the performance to come out, but Gearbox might still do it.

http://rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33738161

That's a thread over at rage3d where people have been talking about it for the past month.

On my 9700pro system, the game ran really good for the most part at 800*600, with fps locked at $30, besides the low-res, the game played smoothly.

Does anyone know if any of the patches ever improved the performance of the game in general? I bought this one to see what all the buzz was about, and it runs so slowly that I can't even line up my sights on anything.

P4 2.53, 9700 pro w/4.1 cats, audigy.

Fairly decent rig, if not state of the art, but even in 800 x 600 this pos ran like a one legged dog. If they fixed the framerates, I'd dust it off.

Maybe this is the patch that

-turns the clock back to 2001

-prevents Microsoft from buying Bungie

-allows Halo to come out on PC/Mac as it was originally intended

-makes Bill Gates' testicles explode at the speed of light.

Ok maybe I'm reaching on that last one, but a person can dream.

Why is everyone always so negative, it's like the glass is always half empty to you all.

"Blah blah that patch for so and so will never be out," "Does this make the game blah and blah," if you don't like the game, but out! I don't go around posting about games I don't like to just say I don't like it in the faces of people who do.

why on earth would anyone want to patch that p.o.s when they could dl the ut2k4 demo and have more fun in a half hr than they had in the twenty or so hrs of gameplay in halo?

the mind boggles....

Is this the patch that <insert here>?

You couldn't resist the urge, could you?

Sometimes it is important to get that kind of stuff out of the way quickly.

a patch that adds co-op? bah. they'll never get around to that, especially considering that the "network code they built from the ground up" causes noticable lag ON A LAN, where the Xbox version doesn't make any mistakes. can't tell you HOW many times I shot a moving warthog at a lan with a rocket launcher, watched it fly up in the air for half a second, then be pulled back to the ground instantly, and just in time to run me over.

that, ladies and gentlemen, is called piss-poor netcode. How can they attempt to put in lots of AI units running around if they can't handle 4 human-controlled players running around? I swear, companies go to Gearbox to get their game ported to the PC in such a way that people will buy the console version instead. I think it's intentional.

(edited to make my point clear...I just woke up, gimme a break)

I'm still hoping that a patch/hack comes out adding coop... I'm really starting to doubt this will ever happen though.
