Out of the Blue

I'm really starting to consider whether there are alternatives to dropping MrsBlue off at the train station each morning. Today I had another two (two!) near misses in covering the mile-or-so between the BlueTower and the train station, including a tire screecher that I still cannot believe did not involve contact. The cause, of course, is all the numb nut Sunday drivers heading to the train station to commute, so the quandary here is whether reducing the risk of a fender-bender in our own personal car is a justifucation for potentially increasing her risk of having an incident because she would then be traveling with a (numb nut) cab driver. Damn, it's the Kobyashi Maru... time to recode the simulator.

I'll squeeze this in before all the anti-Bush rhetoric starts. This report was released on Sunday, it offers an objective, unbiased look into the WMD debacle. Most importantly, Bush is NOT the only one to blame. The ramifications go much deeper and farther back than the current administration. So if you really want to know what went wrong, and don't want all the partisan bullshit, spend an hour reading this.

I will one up you!

Hi = 43

Actually, the HIGH is 46.

The average age is 28.56 (since you missed the 46) [Also, I counted MeatFart as 29 and not 28, since his Birthday is tomorrow]

8% are under 20
56% Are in their 20's
24% Are in their 30's
12% Are over 40

EDIT
The guy you missed, 46 is the guy you said this to:
"Hey buddy, take some ritalin, then re-type this."

I actually missed his too, but noticed it by accident in your quote/response!

I'm weighing the average down!

Nope.

I re-ran it throwing out the high and low. The median stayed the same but the average dropped by a year.

The sample is too small.

That is your special toy. And the meal is just a salad and bottle water or fountain drink.
Extremely lame for $5.

But I think it is really meant to be a one time purchase to get the guide and pedometer.
It is not a bad deal, if you want a pedometer!

As if science education in this country wasn't screwed enough- they gotta come up with this stuff. True, evolution is a "theory", but as SCIENCE tells us, we should not judge it to be more or less truthful than Creation or any other "theory" until undisputable proof is given either way.

Evolution is not a "theory", it's fact.

15 Answers to Creationist Nonsense.

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articleID=000D4FEC-7D5B-1D07-8E49809EC588EEDF&pageNumber=1

1. Evolution is only a theory. It is not a fact or a scientific law.

Many people learned in elementary school that a theory falls in the middle of a hierarchy of certainty--above a mere hypothesis but below a law. Scientists do not use the terms that way, however. According to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), a scientific theory is "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses." No amount of validation changes a theory into a law, which is a descriptive generalization about nature. So when scientists talk about the theory of evolution--or the atomic theory or the theory of relativity, for that matter--they are not expressing reservations about its truth.

In addition to the theory of evolution, meaning the idea of descent with modification, one may also speak of the fact of evolution. The NAS defines a fact as "an observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and for all practical purposes is accepted as 'true.'" The fossil record and abundant other evidence testify that organisms have evolved through time. Although no one observed those transformations, the indirect evidence is clear, unambiguous and compelling.
All sciences frequently rely on indirect evidence. Physicists cannot see subatomic particles directly, for instance, so they verify their existence by watching for telltale tracks that the particles leave in cloud chambers. The absence of direct observation does not make physicists' conclusions less certain.

Well said, Enahs. I have a bowflex, and it's all it's cracked up to be, albeit expensive. And coincidentally, I also have a Precor cross trainer (I'm old and have discretionary income ) and between the two units I can get a *great* workout at home.

Costco is now selling bowflexes in their stores, so if you have one of those nearby you can try it out ...

Idling I get 28C and after playing BF1942 for a couple of hours it gets to 35C (thats if I avoid DVT ). However, this is also in a Thermaltake 1000A case with 9 fans !

If that is what I need to do to get under 40C then forget it!

I have exactly the same HSF as Bronco, the Zalman 7000 Al/Cu one installed on a P4. Idling I get 28C and after playing BF1942 for a couple of hours it gets to 35C (thats if I avoid DVT :D). However, this is also in a Thermaltake 1000A case with 9 fans !

I was also nervous at installing the sucker but, in the end, it was really easy. For a P4 you put a couple of aluminium bars across the motherboard mounting points and then screw it onto the bars. As Bronco said, due the sprung mounting design it's nigh on impossible to overtighten the HSF onto the chip.

The only word of caution I have is that this sucker is big and heavy, around 445g, the Intel reference designs for HSF mounting state that 450g is the max and the socket 462 on 300g ! Be careful if you have to move your PC once it's installed.
