Cuban American Bar
Association Condemns Racially Charged Video Game (thanks Chris Johnson and
Gamasutra
(registration required)) has word of the latest unhappy reaction to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, as
the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) has sent a letter "to the
manufacturers of the video game... condemning the game's use of racially charged
remarks promoting the hate and killing of Haitians and Cubans," demanding an
apology to each group. They copy U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and Florida
Governor Jeb Bush , as they are also "seeking the removal of the offensive video
game from store shelves throughout the country." Finally: "CABA's letter quotes
the Haitian government spokesperson, Mr. Mario Dupuy, who stated, 'this racist
game is psychologically extremely dangerous and is an incitement to genocide.'"
