I did almost the same thing except about a year ago ssh. I got FB and a MSFFB2 stick and now I like FB more that Lo-Mac (perhaps b/c it barely runs on my system which isn't shabby).

But it is more than that. There is nothing better than spotting the enemy below that you have altitude advantage on, flipping inverted, cutting the throttle and diving down towards him as you hear the wind rushing by and timing your burst of cannon rounds perfectly as you watch his oil/gas burst out then clip the wing with a large round and watch it snap as he tumbles in a gravity-induced spiral.

I bought a Saitek X-45 before Christmas, and picked up this and Lomac to use with it (my first ever flight sims). Although there's definitely the coolness factor going on with Lo-Mac, I think playing IL-2 is more fun. Less going on. Just you, an engine, some wings and a few cannons.

Nonsense? I try and stay away from games that don't have CD key protection these days, because I know it means that the rejects that infest so many game servers can't get banned effectively when they're being jerkasses.

IMO, all games that are to be played multiplayer online should ship with a robust CD key system that provides unique player IDs for each game (bring on PunkBuster).

Multiplayer will work with any copy of the game. There isn't any CD key/copy protection nonsense involved.

If i ever get a new joystick Ill get this game. Does anyone know if I get a used copy will it work on the multiplayer?
