Y'know, it'd be one thing if it was a more or less 1-dimensional single-player game, where you simply got to a particular level, and had all of the weapons found up to that point (like Half-Life or Unreal II). But the myriad combinations of different experience points, allocations of same, and installed "programs" in Tron make people actually CARE about their savegames.
