FUCK STEAM.
It's tiring having to enter the CD-Key on the back of your Half-Life case which is now a permanent fixture on the desktop because STEAM is a piece of shit.

I deinstalled Steam and never installed it again after the hack attack at valve but I think I will give Steam a new chance in the next few days and see if Steam got improved and games are now actually joinable.
Hopefully valve has also fixed now all security holes which arised after the Steam client source code leaked to the net a few months ago.

Besides, using your upload to the max REALLY slows down your average connection speed, i.e browsing
It’s a good idea but valve might be worried about opening up the system so much. I suppose a few CRC checks here and there and integrity should be maintained.

the p2p system will work regardless of your upload cap.
the idea is that through p2p there will never be a weak point in demand for bandwidth, in fact, due to the massive popularity, it will only increase. The people with weak upload are not affected, they only benefit because they can download just like anyone else. [in a properly implemented system].
The idea here is not that EVERYONE is sharing [ie. kazaa] but that the preponderance of sources satisfies the massive demand for data at any time.

Personally, I don't want a p2p system. My ISP has an upload cap.

they need a bittorrent style p2p underpinning for this system to work.
i heard they only started working on it recently, after years of development. it boggles the mind. they only realized recently it wouldnt work without p2p?
