The my-entire-base-blows-up-after-I-start thing is the anti-piracy protection (pretty halarious if you ask me). You are doing something to set it off.

I agree 100%. ZH is still fun when played in skirmish mode, and only ZH. The original Generals sucks.
I would love to see a Total Annihilation 2 (no, not Kingdoms). That is still by far the best RTS Ive ever played. And the support was amazing. I think they released a new unit every 2 weeks or so?

It's an option to have your units auto-retaliate. As for strategic variety, you obviously haven't been playing long enough, or have been playing the "NO RUSH" games..

Tried very hard to like it. But some gameplay elements just drive me up the wall. Like the incredible stupidity of units. They just stand there and get shot. The only way to do anything is to constantly run around setting all units to guard. But because you build units so quickly the game for me devolves into simply running around setting units to guard. I don't see any strategy in the game.

Plus, battles consist of nothing more than lassoing a whole bunch of units and throwing them at the enemy. There's really no use of combined arms. And the way maps are designed--with fixed spots you sort of have to centre around--makes for little in the way of strategic variety.

I've actually uninstalled Generals, didn't buy Zero Hour and regret ever making the initial purchase. After playing other RTSes with much better gameplay features (Total Annihilation, Earth 2150, even Warcraft 3), I just can't get into Generals.

I have something strange when I play.. five seconds after I start all my crap blows up and I lose. It's not a warez copy either, got Generals and ZH all normally at the store.

I like it too, but I hate that you have to have the original generals installed for it to work. I dont play the normal generals anymore, so why should I waste 1.6 or so GB for it? If I deinstall it after I installed ZH, I get a "serious error"...

But no way, US air force or Chinese Tank are best. Load up a combat chinook with 4 snipers and 4 rocket soldiers. pwnage. Just watch those chinese hackers go *pop*

AxemaN do you have a radeon 9600 PRO? I do and I have the same error and so do a lot of other people with a 9600 pro.

let them address the "serious error" issue....i played this game for like 2 months then played on a lan downloaded one map, and started the game and got that serious error message. Cant even get in the game now. Sucks major balls. So went to their forums, tried everything they suggested, de-installed, re-installed, edited my reg did everything, nothing works. I really dont want to format ever too many configs for too many games on my rig so this patch could be a blessing. We'll see.
