Out of the Blue

Wow, there's a LOT of snow out there! Just had to say that for the record.

I think that a properly re-tweaked version of the new format will be finalized enough to go online today. I hope none of the unwashed heathens have been bathing, since this version of the format will have the long-awaited return of retro colors... a good thing too, as any longer and they'd probably have to be renamed nostalgic colors.

Play Time: Fly_2. Thanks markus friedl.

I actually like Retro Colors better now with the new design for some wierd reason.

I've noticed this also! I like the blue messages of the board on the black background, as they stand out more.

It's easier to make something cool when you don't have to take care of all the details that are in a "real" game.

You obviously havent tried "The Chickinator" I think nearly EVERY SINGLE "play time" game is far better

Call of Duty go home. Red Orchestra is just much better.

Fun RPG? You bet. Crank up them speakers when you start wiedling the sabers. Hopefully you have a subwoofer too.

The second time through I've noticed a few glitches (not game stopping mind you just... oddities) that don't detract from the game overall the first time I played and wrote my review. But they do make replaying the second time through a bit of a downer. Some graphical, some game specific.

Example, dialgoue threads often end up at the same result no matter what choice you make. Not always, but sometimes.

Regardless, playing Dark Side is quite a bit easier. Your options on what to do are much more narrow (kill them or don't kill them). heh...

Still, best money I've spent on a game in a while.

What I'm seeing is an inability to crank the max text size in IE as high as I could yesterday. At the default setting, it appears the same as before or close enough that I noticed no difference. My desktop rez is 16x12, so I tend to crank the text size up for these text-heavy sites to save me eyes. Now, I can crank it up a little (main page), but in IE at the "view/text size/largest" setting,it's only a small fraction of the size increase I formerly got.

For me the text of the bodies for the news blurbs on the main page is just about the same as before, but the heading text (the title of the story) is small (smaller than the body text). The time/date of the post and the "post comment" link are really tiny.

Running IE, desktop at 1600x1200 with large fonts, if it matters.

Text size on this page seems to be the same as always (although maybe a different font) but the main page text is small. I can easily increase the size on the main page, but then I have to reduce it on the boards. Something's boogered ....

Yep. It's the only RPG in recent memory that I actually was anxious to play through again as the dark side after playing the light side.
Once you've done that there's no more real replay value (and as such I already traded mine in toward X2 the Threat), but it was definitely worth the shekels for the entertainment value.
I'm enjoying X2, although starting out is somewhat slow and painful, but that'll make the rewards of gettting that badass battleship all the sweeter.
It's just a damn shame there isn't anything good coming out for the next few months. Here's hoping I can get into some of the MOG betas (Mythica, WoW, CoH) to pass fill the void till HL2 and Dewm 3.

PS: Oh yeah, if you haven't picked up Gothic 2 yet, do so. Great friggin' game.

Tron, you made the best purchase in awhile. I think I'm about 1/4 through the game, and I'm having an absolute blast. Can't say much more w/o revealing the story, and that's half the fun...Are you play good or evil?

glad to hear you say that, nin... and thanks for not revealing the story. i'm the kind of person who won't watch movie trailers or commercials for tv shows so the whole event can be a surprise... and i am playing as good... i always do!

Hmm, the text size in IE seems the same, but in Opera 7.23 it looks like it is compressed. I don't know if there's anything in the new layout that finally went online that would have done this, but it definately isn't the same.

Oh, and count this as a vote for Opera over Mozilla too. Just personal preference, either one is much better than IE.

hey guys, i just picked up KotoR today (my christmas gift to myself this year) and have spend an hour or two playing so far... can someone please tell me that this game continues to kick as much ass as it does for the first few hours? it is so damn good so far that i'm afraid the quality is going to drop off over time... or is bioware so good that this game can really play this well the whole way through??? i hoping it does!

It seems the same size to me. I loaded up IE and checked it out, and it seemed the same size. But IE does not let you enlarge the font as much as Mozilla. You might want to try Mozilla out (www.mozilla.org) as I would say with it more customizable, it would be friendlier to someone with bad vision. And you can easily hold down ctrl and scroll on the mouse (which you can in IE too) but get the font size up 300%+! But like I said, I have change in the text size it seems.
