Out of the Blue

Wow, there's a LOT of snow out there! Just had to say that for the record.

I think that a properly re-tweaked version of the new format will be finalized enough to go online today. I hope none of the unwashed heathens have been bathing, since this version of the format will have the long-awaited return of retro colors... a good thing too, as any longer and they'd probably have to be renamed nostalgic colors.

Play Time: Fly_2. Thanks markus friedl.

Dangit, I feel like someone thats robbed of a sneeze. The temperature's been hovering around -5 - 0 for the last month, and the only flakes I've seen are on my collar. You guys mind sending some (or all) of that snow out west? Thanks

I had just noticed that the text appears to be smaller too, but it could just be me. No worries though, I just bump the site to 110% and it's all good.

I emailed this comment a minute ago, but thought I'd post it here in case it's overlooked in Blue's tonnage of incoming email.

Hey, Blue..

Long-time reader; once in a great while I email you regarding some trivial item. Here's one such.

I crank up the text size when reading text-heavy news sites these days to make them a little easier to read (I'm not particularly old, and yes, I know what causes my premature trek into blindness). Your update today removed my ability to crank up the text size to the max. I can still muddle through OK, but I'm sure people with real vision problems will be inconvenienced by this. Further, the generally accepted accessibility guidelines would dictate that the end-user should be able to specify text size.

Just an unsolicited heads-up. Thanks so much for all your hard work - you've given me a great deal of enjoyment over the years.

Blue can't do much with the look of the forums because they're a Bagpuss thang.

Never underestimate the powers of a determined Frans.

So, Blue, did you ever get the snowblower or is the Vicodin doing double-time for the tooth and an aching back?

Nope, it was the shovel and double-time on the vicodin.

Does this mean the new design will be live this week, and say have the new design at the forums pages as well?

I think it's "live" right now, check it out. Also if I remember right, Blue can't do much with the look of the forums because they're a Bagpuss thang.

only hitch I see is it doesn't show the value it's using, I guess. Not a biggie - yay for the retro colours!

Now we need a new cause to champion.

I was going to send this straight to Blue but after playing around with Blue's new "on the fly" color change system I'm not sure if it's a glitch or not. At first when I clicked on the retro button the page would turn black but then change back to blue after a couple seconds. I later figured out that this was because I was clicking on the button before all the ad information had loaded. If you wait until the page is completely loaded it works great.

Now what I don't know is whether the color preference is supposed to be saved as a cookie or are you simply supposed to click the button every time you load the page. Right now it's not being saved, but if that's by design then there's not a problem.

Now we won't have to turn the hose on the happy heathens.

It's easier to make something cool when you don't have to take care of all the details that are in a "real" game.

Fly_2: well its not excactly a game as such, still it has me pondering..Why is it that those "Play time" games are sometimes far better than some of those "real" games in the news.. Did anyone try that "chickinator" game from yesterdays "ETC."? Damn that is the single WORST DAMN GAME IVE EVER PLAYED. EVER. Its almost worth trying just to know how bad things can get.. I think its supposed to be "fun" .. but its not..

Call of Duty go home. Red Orchestra is just much better.

Just get a small plow and harness, and train Hudson to walk up and down the sidewalk and riveway. Problem solved, back saved! And Hudson gets a nice little work out.

Hey Rigs, don't wish that nasty white stuff on us here in the sunshine state! If you miss it so much take a quick road trip and visit it.
I'm also in Central FL, and don't like the temp to drop below 70, that's why I live here. It got too Freakin COLD last night, below 40F.
Give me scuba diving over snow boarding any day!

Well, we had a very heavy frost this morning in west central FL, so it kinda looked like a dusting...guess that's the best I'm gonna get... *sigh* ...So, Blue, did you ever get the snowblower or is the Vicodin doing double-time for the tooth and an aching back?
