Battlefield Vietnam Trailer

The Battlefield 1942 Website now features a new trailer from Battlefield Vietnam, offering the chance to check out more of the gameplay in the upcoming Vietnam War shooter. The 1:42 clip shows off some jungle warfare in and over the Mekong Delta. ActiveX is required to view the streaming clip, so non-IE browsers may have trouble with this.

i don't know how accurate that list can be when they mention features of the CTF game mode that we were told wasn't going to be in BFV.

This little info page on planetbattlefield shows a little bit of the meat on what Battlefield Vietnam offers, though with it being at least 4 months to release, I imagine this could change.

Ok I'll bite at the troll.

It is NOT a mod. The game engine was completely overhauled to allow for true helicopter flight. Not at all like Desert Combat. Also, they upped the graphics as well.

So no.. its not a mod..

I'm not impressed by this video. It's probably just a official mod by DiCE that they sell as a new game anyways.

Pretty sure your cynicism is unfounded. Take a look at the player model differences, they are leaps and bounds ahead of 1942, stupid. No mod can do that.

Hopefully it'll be higher paced than BF42, but slower paced than Desert Combat.

It will, according to some of the IGN videos.

I think the impressive thing in the video is the sense of fun.

(I don't think you have to hate the US to make a jibe about vietnam when talking about a game about vietnam. yer jus a lil touchy perhaps.)

It would have a difficult time lifting an M60.

I stand corrected, I had made the assumption that since a UH-1 has a maximum passenger capacity of 7 that it would have a difficult time lifting a patrol boat or M-60 Patton series tank.

In Apocalypse Now, a Huey transports the river boat to the mouth of the river (the Charlie Don't Surf scene) and drops it from about 30 ft. if I remember correctly.

Right on Tony. There's nothing wrong with some unrealism if it's in the name of fun. These people are probably the same people who didn't like Back to the Future because a Delorean obviously can't go fast enough to time travel, flux capacitor or not. Everyone knows you need a Porsche.

EDIT: On a side note, I watched the video and was suitable not impressed. What was so impressive about this again?

Lets see, a Vietnam era Huey had a lift capability of 3,021kg, an American River Patrol Boat weighed around 1,700kg. What's ridiculous? That a Huey could lift a fiberglass hulled boat?

Yeah I know, it's not like I haven't played BF. Where as before it was just arcadey it's no approaching absurd levels. I'm sure it will still be a blast to play and all, but having a huey airlift a boat that it could almost land on is just ridiculous.

SMA, The only realistic element to their games seems to be the visuals anyway. It will look like Vietnam, and that's about it.

I am having the same problem. Just a blank black screen with low quality audio. I even managed to get the direct link (below) so I could play it in the real Windows Media player but still a blank screen with low quality audio only. If anybody figures out whats up, let us know.
