From the http://www.americanprogress.org/

JOB PICTURE NOT QUITE AS GOOD AS ORIGINALLY THOUGHT: Despite being the first Administration since Herbert Hoover's to show a net jobs loss in its term, the Bush Administration has touted recent employment blips as proof that its tax cuts for the wealthy are working to stimulate the economy. But the job and wage crisis is far from over – especially in many of the most critical sectors of the information economy. As the American Electronics Association reports "nearly 750,000, close to 13 percent of all high-tech jobs in the United States have been lost over the past two years." In 2002, the sector "lost close to 540,000 and another 234,000 jobs in 2003." The NYT reports, "many technology workers have become increasingly concerned and angry about offshore contracts, which can cause certain jobs or whole departments to be moved to countries like India and China , where technology workers are paid lower wages." Information technology industries have "led the initial overseas exodus," according to a study by Forrester Research, published in November 2002. Those well-paying jobs are being transformed into lower-paying ones, and those who retain technology jobs in the U.S. "say that they are being offered lower salaries than in the past."

Yep, IT is hurtin for certain and won't ever be good again without some form of political muscle to kill of that sort of bull, because it's only going to continue to get worse. I'd strongly suggest a career change.

At least Alien 3 is watchable.

Yeah, like a bad train wreck! I'll be interested to see what this new cut (with an extra 30 minutes of footage) can do for it...

And as for 4, well...ugh. It made 3 tolerable...

Last I heard (in the last 6 months or so) Jim Cameron was still kicking around the idea of Alien 5...maybe he could somehow salvage the series (or do a dream sequence and say 3-4 never happened! WEEEEEEEE!)...

At least Alien 3 is watchable. I wish I could travel back in time and prevent 4 from being made though.

Ugh, Alien 4 was on TV last night and I watched it until the end, but couldn't bring myself to finish watching it. I saw it when it came out in the theater, and it just sucks sucks sucks.

Poor Alien series. It was once a respectable franchise...

Fox should cut their losses and just deny that Alien 3 & 4 ever existed.

Send it to the Peny Arcade Child's Play fund!
Heh, after browsing through their online store's selection, I wish I could. They have barely 10 titles available for each platform.

The C&C: Generals Deluxe pack is looking interesting though...

EA's not all that evil, I just got a $15 e-coupon (redeemable only at the EA Store) from them as a birthday gift. Yay.

What should I spend it on?

Send it to the Peny Arcade Child's Play fund!

This is great! Makes me really happy! I have done volunteer work at the Local Children’s Hospital, and it takes just so little to greatly improve some of those kids life’s. It could be just spending time, or giving something for them to play with, those kids are amazing. And this is a GREAT thing they are doing!

Actually I'm sure all of those Dell commercials are misleading, especially the one with the featuring the 24/7 night tech support people. To be accurate they should've brought their camera's to India where the real tech support team is located and featured a closeup of a Dell techy using his rough Engrish skills to help an American customer.

And who in the hell would intern for Dell anyway? Unless you live in Bangalore they're not going to hire you.

Indeed - I saw nobody had bought a camera yet - so I did. Go PA! If they just get the kind of press that "violent gamers" do, it'll be worth it.
