RoN: Throne and Patriots Announcement

This Big Huge Press Release (thanks Frans) offers the official announcement of the Throne and Patriots add-on for Rise of Nations that was recently unveiled (story). Here's the deal:
Microsoft Game Studios and Big Huge Games today announce Rise of Nations: Throne and Patriots, the expansion pack to the critically acclaimed, best-selling real-time strategy (RTS) game Rise of Nations. Developed by Brian Reynolds and Big Huge Games, Throne and Patriots adds a multitude of new features to Rise of Nations, introducing six new nations, a wide variety of new single player campaigns, more than 20 new units, new wonders and an innovative new Government feature. With the new Government feature, any nation, old or new, can choose exactly how to be governed, which has far-reaching effects on how units perform in various situations. All-new single player campaigns will allow gamers to control the course of history during historical events that changed the world. Rise of Nations: Throne and Patriots is expected to ship in Spring 2004. The original Rise of Nations game is available wherever games are sold and has been reduced to $39.99 (U.S.), just in time for the holidays.

I think they had originally planned on having some historical campaigns, but they never got implemented. You know how developers schedules are. Anyway, I'm betting that the historical maps will be great fun adding even more value to a fantastic game.

You're not the only one. I played the demo, and within the first few minutes I decided to buy it. Not many people talk about RoN, but I think its one of the best strategy games to come out since Age of Empires II. The only thing I was disappointed with when I bought it was the lack of historical single player campaigns, but I'm glad that this new expansion is taking care of that!

I love it, and was REALLY hoping for an expansion (but, by now, had just about given up)...

Rise of Nations is quickly becoming a classic in my eyes. They did away with the limited resources and let the player focus more on strategy. All the units, counters, and different ages make the game indefinitely replayable. This expansion pack sounds really cool too with more new nations and senate options. I am the only person who feels this way about RoN?
