IG3 Resurrected

Dutch publisher HD Interactive sends word that the project formerly once known as Imperium Galactica 3 before being renamed Galaxy Andromeda (story) before being cancelled (story) has been revived under the new title Nexus. Here's the deal:
Just when it looked like the game formerly known as 'Imperium Galactica 3' would be lost in space, it is now back on track as one of the most eagerly awaited hits of 2004 thanks to a worldwide rights deal announced by Benelux's leading independent publisher HD Interactive of Amsterdam. Earliest views of the game have inspired such descriptions as 'visceral, futuristic and captivating' and 'absolutely gorgeous', and now the real-time mission-based tactical space game for PC has not only found a new publishing home with HD Interactive, but also a new focus with the title: 'Nexus'.

Under development in Budapest by Mithis Games, Nexus is heading for a worldwide release in September 2004. "Nexus is a true gamers' game," said Mike Klumper, MD of HD Interactive. "I was amazed by what I saw of the early code of Nexus. I was blown away by it and we are extremely proud to add this beautiful title to our portfolio. Now it has joined our line-up, Nexus will receive the full attention it richly deserves. By working closely with Mithis, a talented and experienced developer, and giving total focus to the product, we will ensure that Nexus realises its maximum potential in each and every territory." Robert Sugar, CEO of Mithis, said, "Everybody at Mithis is extremely excited about this deal. With HD Interactive's focus, Nexus is in very good hands. "

Sept 2004 though? Damn, they must be redoing a lot of the game.. again. I hope they don't ruin it; the demo showed a *lot* of promise.

Thanks very much Rigs, I appreciate you taking the time to answer that question.

I hope X2 comes out soon, although the dude at EB said his computer had a release date of the 18th... Kinda weird that.

Back to KotOR!

Damn good news, I loved the demo once I learned how to play it. The graphics "bump mapping and shield effects" are truly awesome. Don't botch this up HD, stick to the original gameplan and it will rock, hopefully they only change the name and nothing else.

That's damn good news. I'm wondering what work needs to be done if its comming out deep into next year though. Regardless, I'm happy to see this game won't be taken from me after all.

Creston,

I noticed you had asked me a question in the X2 thread a couple days ago, I just looked at it yesterday, sorry, I've been working my ass off...Anyway, you wanted to know if it would be better with a joystick or Keyboard and mouse in X2, I would say that the whole time I played the beta, I never used the joystick. I mean, you can, it supports them fully, but when you have to go thru trade menus and such, it becomes a hassle. I don't think there is a mouse control option like Freelancer, but I haven't looked...there could be...I just use the keyboard for everything with no problems at all...I know a lot of peeps want to grab the joystick and start blasting away like they could in Freespace, and you can, but it's easier with a keyboard and mouse...(hmm, that sentence doesn't sound right)...

They published Devastation in the Benelux and released some racegames and kiddy games in the past.

I was severely disappointed when I heard that IG3 was cancelled, as it looked VERY interesting, to put it mildly. (alright, I covered myself in Nutella and...)

Good thing that this game has been rescued from the grave. There ARE some feel good stories in the gaming industry after all.

I have NEVER heard of HD Interactive though, and I lived in Amsterdam for 30 years. So I'd take that "Benelux's biggest" with a rather large bag of salt.
