Ships Ahoy - Star Wars KOTOR

The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Website (thanks Frans) has word that the PC version of the Star Wars RPG has shipped, saying simply that the game "is available now." On a related note, GameSpy's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Q&A talks about this PC version of the Star Wars RPG with BioWare's Casey Hudson, discussing changed and additional content compared with the Xbox version.

I am very excited to play this. Anyone try it on their PC yet? Should I be putting on my Ewok ears?

Ewok ears? Not in SWG...

Man I can't wait to finish work today and transfer to EB at warp 9. I'm like a hurricane, tearing through today's office. The poor people here must be wondering if I'm on crack or something.

If only they knew. The thing I'm on is much better than crack.

Ummm . . . KOTOR, not SWG. In any case, the donning of the ceremonial Ewok ears is an expression of my inner SW geek-ness.

I always grow a light saber when I hear about Star Wars.

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

I don't play RPG's and I don't usually go for big license video games, but I have to admit, I'm very interested in this one.

I know, it's more of an inside joke for SWG. Ewoks are about some of the hardest critters in SWG, and trying to hunt Ewok ears usually ends up in a large group of very very dead people.
Sadly, this was about the only part of the game that was fun.

Only about five more hours to go till I get off work!

Just out of curiosity, how do you guys handle Fedex/UPS deliveries. I don't have any neighbors that I trust with picking up my packages, nor does my workplace allow personal shipments. I just usually wait till I get home from work, grab the delivery tag, drive to the Fedex office and pick it up.

I've been checking the Tracking no. for my KOTOR shipment and they attempted to deliver it at 10am today. and I'm just wondering if someone has found a better/faster way. It would be nice if Fedex would just send me an email when they have a package of mine and then I could just pick it up directly, why waste the delivery man's time when I know I won't be home till 5pm

If they (Fedex) leave a tag (try and deliver when you're not home) I believe there's a spot on the tag where you can sign that'll allow them to drop off all future shipments w/o a sig. In my case, they say I have a release waiver on file, even when I didn't sign anything (which is fine, as I get tired of driving down to get stuff).

UPS, on the other hand, doesn't seem to give a f$%& and just drops stuff off. And that's fine too.

In your case, the next time you pick something up at fedex, I'd ask them if there was a way to hold all packages until you pick them up yourself. Not sure if they'd do it, but it never hurts to ask.

The lack of ANY multi-player at all will make me wait till this puppy is at least $20 cheaper. I was hoping for a NWN type game where I could LAN or Internet group with my friends and chop up some baddies. I guess that's what we PC gamers get when a game is designed for Consoles first and PC's second. Looks great, sounds impressive, but only SP... it'll have to wait for a couple of price drops.

"MP? Ok..."

Yeah, ya know that play style were you get together with friends and have fun?? Maybe not? Whatever. All I am saying is that I am a little disappointed that there is no MP at all, I didn't say the game sucked, put some Tucks on your itchy roids and calm down. I'll reiterate, the game looks fun and interesting, I'll buy it when the price goes down because 'I' feel that there should have been MP. Sorry I lost that all so deep SW meaning in my translation.. wouldn't want to do that....

Furious,

There is always SWG, Jedi Knight Outcast and Jedi Academy to satisfy your MP Star Wars cravings.

I for one am glad companies are re-focusing on a quality singleplayer experience. Look what happened last time Bioware tried to package both a single and multiplayer game in one ..... that's right, we ended up with NWN's official campaign.

Looking forward to Thief 3. I plan to skip the new Deus Ex - that first one never really captured my fancy, and I will certainly wait for the second one to end up in the bargain bin before I pick it up.

I just don't see why EVERY game needs to have multiplayer. I think two or three years ago I probably shared your point of view, and I wouldn't touch a game where I couldn't either go kick ass with my friends, or go kick my friends' asses. Now though, I am perfectly fine with a game that I can play to experience a good story by myself, without having to worry about getting our regular gaming group together. I have MMO games and shooter games for my MP fix, but sometimes it's fun to play through a decent single player game, like GTA. I'm hoping to get the same out of KOTOR when I get around to picking it up.

I hear what your saying Gandhi, I played all the games you mentioned minus SWG and I wanted those games to be co-op. Yes, those games have MP, but the MP is the mind numbing Death Match, Capture the Flag, etc. i couldn't share Jedi Academy's story line with my friends and I wish I could have, it would have made the game 'more' fun. I wanted the 'outstanding' SP experience in KotOR to be co-op, what is so hard about that? I didn't want anything detracted from the story, I didn't want it to have death match or even a tool kit or DM Client, just a simple "shared story" line (co-op). But I guess that kind of thinking is just crazy, yeah, playing alone is so much more fun. I hope you guys have a blast with it, I will to, but at a later date.

"I just don't see why EVERY game needs to have multiplayer."

Yes Lokust, I agree, not every game should have to have MP. There aren't however, many games anymore that allow co-op MP, or games that allow more than one player to expereince the SP story line. Off the top of 'my' head I can only think of Doom II, Diablo 1/2... I'm sure other know more but there aren't that many co-op games. When I first started seeing the advertisements for this game I thought it would have made for an excellent co-op game and thats why I'm a bit disappointed. Sorry if that offends you so much. I'll play it at the price I feel that it is worth.

I hate Star Wars. I can't wait to play this game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this designed for the PC first, just released on the console first?

As for MP, while I love co-op, you can't have as strong a story without knowing exactly how many people will be there, and you have to lump all the people into one instead of making them individuals, which makes the campaign and story weaker.

I could care less, I hardly play multiplayer anymore. Especially outside of brainless action games. None of my friends touch computer games, I don't have e-friends, and I wouldn't trust matchmaking services to get me competent people to play co-op with, so it's no loss to me.

Despite my complete adoration for co-op.

I think you might be talking about Halo. I think this was Xbox right out of the gate.
