JA2: Wildfire Details

Strategy First announces new Jagged Alliance game for Q1 2004 is the official press release announcing the new Jagged Alliance 2 game that answers the question raised when the product page came online (story) clarifying that it is a stand-alone expansion in price ($19.99) and packaging (the original JA2 will be included). The release includes further details on the project's war on drugs theme, and indications that Strategy First plans to continue extending the JA franchise in spite of the demise of developer SirTech:
“Moving forward with the Jagged Alliance series is one of our major focuses for the next few years,” says Don McFatridge, President and CEO of Strategy First. “Teaming up with Serge ‘Wildfire’ Popov was an obvious move on our part as he is truly one of the best known modders in the JA community and we couldn’t be happier with our partnership.”

Could you imagine JA with the Silent Storm Engine. WOW =)
Good thing SS has tools that come with it for editing. Somebody should be able to pull of something. Either way They're both great

calling folks dumb and idiots sounds foolish when you use words like "funner"

Regardless of the state of the team developing it, I'll hold my breath till I see a screenshot, feature list or preview. I do hope they create a worthy addition to JA2, good games are fun to play

Uhm, get to work on JA3 you idiots. Strategy First thought they knew strategy, maybe call them Stupidity First?!?! And the game looks like a mod. All it is is a mod. A mod. A mod. Lets re-re-rerelease the game. Just Make JA3. or get it going with the old Sir Tech people. Idiots. The JA series is possible THE best turn based games in the last ten years or so... imo more funner than 4x Civs and the likes...

Would've been nice if they used a more up-to-date engine.

Hiring modders as game developers has become pretty commonplace really.

As far as calling him one of the best modders, well, I don't believe he's released anything yet, while several other modders have, and those mods include new maps...

Ummm.. wouldn't the most obvious move be to hire on the ORIGINAL developers who actually created it (and I'm assuming know the franchise and the code a hell of a lot better that a modder??).

I guess its true... those who can, create... those who can't, publish.

Would've been nice if they used a more up-to-date engine. The current egine has been recycled almost as much as the Infinity Engine from Bioware.

Now, before a rabid fanboy screams, "ITS ABOUT DA GME PLAY DUD3 NOT DA GRAPHICS1!1! OMG WTF," I agree, game play is more important. But there's nothing wrong with some eye candy, especially with today's tech.

Yeh thats a really dick thing to do... but I would tend to say the new expansion will be just as good if not better technically... JA2 fans are rabidly faithful to the design, and TBS gamers are about as detail oriented as you can get

They lay off the team that created it, even the guy who INVENTED it, then they get other people to develop a new 'version' of the game.

Hmm.. wonder if it will be any good??

Moving forward is one of their major focuses, yet they let the entire JA team walk?
