"maybe these people just didnt grow up with doom. I did and my friends too and we all know doom3 will be awesome and at least as much of a leap as doom1 back at its time. HL2 will be nice too but I would kick HL2 in the bucket if I had to choose between the 2.
Yes, you are Doom 3's target audience, and Id is relying on you and the reviews to spread the word. But Id has also admitted that Doom 3 is basically a remake of Doom 1. Personally, I want something more than a game that everyone played 10 years ago.
Doom 3 is a simplistic shooter and I, for one, want more than that. But to each his own, and so on."
Are you kidding? This will be nothing like the game 10 years ago. The game 10 years ago sometimes had dozens of monsters on the screen at once. The game 10 years ago made you jump because of creatures teleporting in as you passed a trigger line.
This game will not have dozens of creatures at once. It will have a few at a time and that will be enough. You will have to actually fight things instead of just blasting them away like they are school children getting off a short bus.
Instead of triggers, they can now use shadows & lighting, sound & cutscenes to give suspense. The other game was an rush like an action movie. This one is more like a mystery. Slow & dangerous. Thief comes to mind, where you carefully plod through a scary place instead of rushing like some feeble-minded moron through it all because you are Rambo or some shit.
You want something more than a game you played 10 years ago? Did you see the alpha? Did you see that *HORROR* pass by in the hall, the huge baron of hell that you could not interact with? Do you have any idea how many people are going to need to pee when they get done fighting that thing? You want something more? Well be sure to pick up the game because you'll have a hell of a lot more than that old game. It's a remake of the idea, but they're already showing you it isn't a clone. The pink demons are now that E3 Bathroom Demon Dog. Some things are the same, game play is not. It's more realistic. It's paced. Considered. It's looking in shadows twice & turning alot because you just heard something... again. I will only play this game at night. I will not ruin the 1st experience with distractions, glares, or interruptions of any sort. Game history is about to be made as ID again ups the stakes for graphics. Every time they do this, it only means that other companies have to play catch up. It only means that some other company will get the engine from ID to make their own game. It only means that mods will attack this engine & make mods faster than ever before. It only means one thing, that the gaming world is about to get shaken to the bone with the power of ID. Valve fucked up. Half-Life2? I'll believe it when I see it. But I played the alpha at a friend's house & it was already looking pretty good. It was just an alpha! HL2's beta looked like shit, with tiny little maplets and scripted bs and error, error, error error all over the place.
Doom3 is the real deal. The day that comes out is the day I become a map-maker again. I'll make my own stories. Oh this is gonna be so fucking sweet.

To the rest of you talking about the website. I didn't see much to it. This news is just bragging rights for some lifeless moron who looked for it every waking hour so he could say I saw it first. Big deal.
