Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) announced today that the modification tools for Homeworld(r)2, the sequel to 1999's award-winning, space-based real-time strategy game, have been released to the public and are now available to users at http://www.relic.com/rdn.
Amateur and professional game designers alike can use these powerful modification tools to create their own ships, levels, single-player campaigns, and multiplayer game modes. These are the same tools used by the game's developer, Relic Entertainment, to create the content for Homeworld 2. Detailed documentation has been included with the tools to ensure ease of use, regardless of experience or skill level. A copy of Homeworld 2 is required to use any content created with the modification tools.
"We want to make user modification of Homeworld 2 as easy as possible," said Geoff Thomas, Assistant Producer of Homeworld 2. "The quality of work produced by Relic fans in the modding community has blown us away, and we want to do as much as we can to facilitate their efforts with Homeworld 2. We're really looking forward to seeing what fans can do with these tools."
