Out of the Blue

Boo!

Sorry, hope I didn't scare you. Happy Halloween! Looking forward to the amazing annual inundation of rug rats we receive around here. We also lucked out in our search for a costume for Hudson the wonder dog... one of the benefits of having a dog the size of a child is that you can use a child's costume. We found a lion outfit at the supermarket, and a little alteration seems to have it properly transformed for a dog. We just haven't worked out how to get her to roar yet...

When my wife gets pissed because I run out and buy this one I'll blame you ok?

*Grin*, you should do it like I did Bronco. I had my wife go out and buy it FOR me while I was still at work.

Then, however, when I called her at the end of the day to let her know I was once again braving the Oklahoma highways, she proudly told me she had also installed it so I could play it once I got home.

Visions of games installed into C:\Program Files\Who\SomePublisher\AndaDeveloperToo\AndWeJustAddedThisOneForFun\Railroad Tycoon 3, together with having DirectX 8 forcefully rammed on top of Direct X 9 AND having electronically registered for it began to cloud my vision, but she skillfully avoided all those traps and did it all perfectly.

I sure do love her.

Damn... 13? These days you're lucky you didn't get shot.

I went over to my Mom's to help her pass out candy (she has really bad feet) and never had to get up once. At least the local hoodlums kids didn't take the opportunity to burn my house down.

I did have the privilege of going into Costco and seeing a 275 lb. women in a skin tight "Cat in the Hat" costume. Believe me, you're never too old to be scarred for life.

Well, I hope nobody believed this rumor. Who would actually be good enough to get the source, but forget the site?

Blue had to delay it because I stole the HTML source for it

To all those saying Blue's News was delayed because of the hacking action, ill just remind you that what was leaked is what Blue has, nothing more and nothing less, so its pretty good to understand it wasnt finished yet.

Also I'd like to point out the E3 was one big fake by Blue. Ever tried to kill the banner ads in physicstown ? Notice the Flash ads will still get kicked ? All the pop-up ads with no scripted sequences ?

To everyone saying this is no Beta: I'd like to point out that THIS is what you wanted Blue to release on 10/25/03, theres no such thing as a much better release in UGO's network!

To Blue: I suggest you stop lying to your customers about how much was stolen/compromised, or I'll have to release everything just to prove my point. And you know what you got, as I do.

You dress your dog up in funny costumes?

And you've decided to change to a fireman because you want the dog to be comfortable?

It's nice you're worried about his physical comfort, but what about his emotional well-being? I mean, what if other dogs find out he's got the kind of owners who dress their dog up in funny costumes?

We just moved to a large swank neighborhood last January. Last year we lived in a small rural community and got barely any trick-or-treaters. This year we thought there'd be tons, so we got twice as much candy as we usually do. And lo and behold, we got none. No trick-or-treaters at all. I even went jogging on the night it was supposed to be (apparently this town does trick-or-treating on the Sunday before Halloween), and didn't see anyone out on the street.

But the worst part, we now have this huge bucket of candy, and because of a fairly strict diet I can't eat any of it.

So sad
I am so so sad
This is my first Halloween living in this neighbor hood.
It is a nice residential neighbor hood, lots of houses. No crime, their is even a freaking pre-school day care 5 houses up and one street over.

So I decorated the front of the house up some, with lights and such, to invite the little kiddies in. I even got a fog machine, and had the front walk way (from side walk to door, about 10 feet) covered in fog, as well as part of the small yard. And had cheesy ghost and pumpkin lights coming out of the ground down the side walk, all very inviting.

I also got in a black ninja costume (ok, so long sleeved black shirt and black pants, and made the hood out of a black t-shirt !:). And spent the whole night hiding behind a nice big tree that was 5 feet away from the walk; that had bushes on the other side, so I could not be seen. And when the little kiddies would walk up and ring the bell, I thought I would pop out of the fog and darkness scare them good! And then give them a shit load of candy. I got lots of good stuff, to “reward” them for letting me scare the snot out of them. Snickers, Twix, AirHeads, Nerds, Blow-Pops, Crunch Bars, all kinds of good stuff I was going to give them lots of!

2, (TWO) freaking kids came, and they had to be at least be 13, and where complete asses because I scared them.

I could of gone to a kick ass Halloween party too….I guess I could still go, but I kind of depressed now. How in the hell does this happen when you live 5 blocks away from a grade school, and you see a good portion of the parents walking their kids to the school in the morning! And less then 1000 feet from a day-care and pre-school…

So damn depressing…...

On a sidenote, I just got Railroad Tycoon 3, and it is sheer sweetness, with a small exception that my mouse scrolling seems a bit FUBAR. Not sure what that's about yet, but the rest of the game is just solid goodness. If you were a fan of either of the two previous ones, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The little ones have been coming by in GINORMOUS groups tonight...20 or more per. I was happy to see a lot of the "classic" costumes....witches and vampires and the like. This being my first real Halloween handing out candy, I was appalled at the behavior of some of these kids. A few (the ones old enough to know better) got VERY indigent when I asked to hear "trick or treat". Some of the kids also stepped up to the basket I was holding and grabbed candy out of it rather than allow me to hand it out to each of them. You'd think they'd be in better spirts....its a beautiful night here in southeast Pa....

*Sigh* Kids these days.....

I saw the Alien: DC first day and showing. I think it would have been more fun to see it in the evening but having to work nights and expensive tickets kinda get in the way.

After seeing the film over times its hard to find it scary but it was awesome to see it on the big screen again. Had one fright though but I wont give that one away It would be cool to see a re-release of Aliens though. All that action!

Several small villages in Oklahoma (Vian, Talihina) are actually postponing Halloween to tomorrow because they have such "big games" tonight.

You gotta love small burgs.

I'm wondering what's different compared to the 20th Edition version that came out in the Alien 4pack several years ago.

I believe that it really isn't any different only that the deleted scenes are edited back into the movie. I'm gonna go see it this evening (Alien being one of my favorite movies of all time) so I'll give a full report on whats different.

Still trying to figure out whether to see the Alien Director's Cut... thinking I will have to,

I'm wondering what's different compared to the 20th Edition version that came out in the Alien 4pack several years ago. (I remember Special Edition Aliens had some nice added footage) The only thing I've read is that he added back footage explaining the loss of Tom Skerrit's and Harry Dean Stanton's characters, which confuses me, since I thought that was already there. We saw "Brain" get it while searching for the cat, and the Captain got it in the air vents. Unless Ridley added in graphic scenes, which would be a disappointment since Alien's thrill is that you really don't see the deaths; it's left to your own twisted imagination.

I wish the direction of AvP would be given to Ridley Scott*, Chris Cunningham**, perhaps David Fincher*** (provided full liberties in the film making process), or any other realist film maker able to produce a visual style that emphasizes believability, reality and detail. Production Lead needn't change from what it is. I hope I made the correct use of these terms but I fear this film will end up with the kind of synthetic and cartoonish quality made even worse in Alien 4 with bad acting, one-liners, and an exaggerated presentation.
