I've got a friend that habitually crashes his car, he did a classic 'A team' spinning the car through the air and crawled out of the wreck along the inside roof and through the back window of the overturned car, wrote off another at a petrol station doing 10 mph (go figure), and crashed another doing about 60 whilst I was in it taking a bend too fast. The phrase 'pissing your pants,' is one not to be used lightly but in this case is appropriate.

He's much improved these days however, (pain, crippling insurance costs and points on your licence are a good teacher! :))

I am a below average driver which is why I know my limits and don't act reckless.

Hmmm...I drove around Vegas once and didn't really notice the bad drivers...must have been a good day. But I did have to dodge a few tumbleweeds rolling across the freeway. And at times the air got thick with dust, mostly from the huge amount of homes being built (construction was kicking up dust). There's not a helluva lot of grass out there.

But I have to say that Vegas (like the rest of Nevada) has some very smooth freeways. No bumps, cracks, unneven surfaces or anything. I live in California (Bay Area), where all the freeways are in a perpetual state of decay. You gotta hold the steering wheel tight around here.

Well, that's a first. Now someone wants a larger ad!

Just so you know, the really large ad between today's and yesterday's news has scroll bars (vert and horiz) on it. It would look better if it fit its window. Can you increase the window so the bars go away? It'll look better. BTW, in case its resolution dependent, I'm running 1280x1024

One of my coworkers was hit by a car in the parking lot at my place of work, and the driver tried to sue our company for his being out there. No joke.

Come on now; who does not have a R/RW drive these days? If anything, I have been eyeing the DVD-RW drives to replace my current DVD-ROM.

That would leave me with two RW drives; one CD and one DVD.

Short answer: Tourist resort

It does get freaking hot, 122 degrees this last august, but you only feel it from the house to the car, or the car to whatever building your going to.

If I could change one thing though it would be the traffic. I'm telling you, at least 3-4 major wrecks a day, not fender-benders, I mean WRECKS.

I've come to the conclusion that there are 2 kinds of people in the world:

1. People that drive like shit.
2. and me.

And seeing as I drive in Albuquerque, I can say this statement is total fact. Anyone who lives here can attest to it. Albuquerque has some (if not THE) worst drivers in the country, period. And yes, I've driven in New York, Chicago, LA, etc.

Seems to me that it's way too common for drivers who make mistakes to get offensive and act like the other person is at fault. When people get behind the wheel, they get incredibly stubborn. I don't know what it is about cars that makes people that way...

The other thing bad drivers tend to do a lot is yell through their closed windows. How rediculous is that! I once had a woman pull alongside of me at a freeway offramp and go absolutely BALLISTIC at me through her closed windows, just because I was "in her way" on the freeway a few minutes before. My reaction was to smile broadly and wave at her. That made her even more angry. She was shaking her fist, yelling, turning beet red, and bouncing around in her seat. All behind closed windows. I didn't hear a word of it. Actually I found it very funny!

I have a feeling she just turned 18, that's why he's getting her over here asap. Sounds like they have never seen each other face to face

I used to drive like an utter dick too.

I passed my test about 2 1/2 years ago and I've had two crashes since then.

One was on an empty road when I went round a bend too fast and slid (cursed front wheel drive!) into the kerb and smashed up a wheel and knocked the axle out of alignment. I still managed to drive the 30 miles home, but the car needed a fair bit of work.

Last year I had a real bitch of a crash. I was in a hurry to get to someone's house and I needed to cross a main road to get from one sideroad to the other. I looked right (I'm in England, so to cross you look right, then left, then right - got me?) then left, but didn't look right again. I pulled out fairly slowly and drove into the front of a car coming down the road. I knocked it off course and it headed off across the road, mounted the other kerb, hit a tree, ran over the tree and stopped beyond it.

I panicked like hell, thinking I'd just killed someone. Two guys got out of the car and had a go at me, then we called the police and they sorted it out. The car I hit was a write off though. The entire front end was destroyed, and I think the engine itself took a bit of a beating.

The lame part was that the other drivers claimed to have been doing 20mph at the time. Now, I figure if they were doing 20mph then:

a) I would have seen them the first time I looked right
b) They would have seen me
c) They wouldn't have had enough momentum to RUN OVER A TREE.

I think the insurance company kinda doubted their claim too, as I only had to pay up £100 out of a possible £300 excess charge.

Anyway, I'm much more sensible now. Nearly killing someone kinda makes you wary...

Yep, I typically run by this one shopping center and there have been three seperate instances where a driver has pulled out of the parking lot and into me.

Might I suggest running in a different location? Or at least, on the other side of the street when you get near the shopping center?

I was hit once and recieved a dislocated shoulder for it. The driver was an cabbie though. Fuck I hate cab drivers. I don't think I hate anyone on the road so much as cab drivers.
