NFS: Underground Demo Delay

The demo countdown timer on the Need For Speed: Underground - Australian Website hit zero today, sat for a bit, and has now been reset to 10+ days and counting. There's no word on what happened to the planned demo release for the street racing game, but there is a headline that simply states: "PC Demo now early November" (looks like late in the day (EST) on November 6 at this point). Thanks Jay Holder.

I want this game to have graphics so good, that when I look at a car in the showroom, I can see the reflection of myself looking through my monitor at the car. Thats when you know they've hit the level of capability where the Radeon 9800's and GeForce FX's are really starting to have a work out. But the game so far looks great, but Im skeptical of the new drift mode. After watching those videos showcasing it, It made it look like powerslides from mariokart. Now if that isnt arcade, then I dont know what is.

"Need For Speed: Riceboyz Extreme" sounds like a more appropriate title for this game. Bleeech.

I hated HP2, and I own every version previous. the NFS series is grand, but along with the physics feeling wrong, and dumb stuff like the police breaking off persuit all to have a chopper drop flaming bomb barrels that was kinda dumb. the biggest thing for me was the replays. replays are the total enjoyment of the game. i dont want to view it again all to see the same thing I just did racing it. I want views like in the previous NFS series.

It'll suck. They're sticking to the arcade, floaty controls.

I want a damn arcade game like Test Drive III or Vette, one where you can pick your path through the town. One where you can wonder.

And damage modeling is key! Even if it doesn't really affect the car's performance much, it should still reflect visually.

These designers are just stupid. Consumer crave chaos!

And NFS1SE too.
All the others were just arcade style. in NFS1 road & track helped the developers with the car physics (they actually tested ALL cars intensly before programming the game) and it was very realistic compared to the newer ones. plus there were cars for every one! porsche, ferarri, toyota, mazda, lamborghini, honda (acura). also I dislike all those round courses. I want test drive 1, 2 & 3-like roads or better! maybe Im misjudging tho, I wasnt that interested in any racing games anymore since I got my dream car.

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

No offence, but have you ever played Nascar online?

Gotta time your brakes, modify your car for each and every track, and requires perfection. You screw up on a turn or hit another guy, it could cost the race no matter how far you are ahead.

Nascar Thunder 2004 kicks ass in my opinion. I played the other Nascar, Sierra, but I am not sure how good it is online (and it doesn't display positions and no auto-pace lab)

As for NFS:U, I hope its a good game. I want to play a good street racing game that *gasps*, let me modifies cars.

I only pld the PC demo but i quite enjoyed it. The handling was a bit stiff tho. Ive pld the NFS2:U demo on a PS2 and it seems quite a laugh. The quater mile sprints are good. Its probally gonna suscribe to the Burnout 2 school of racing imo. Also there doesnt seem to be damage but if u hit traffic in the quater miles u do get a crash scene, and ure race is over.

I really, really love(d) NFS:HP2. Guess I'm the only one, though.

I enjoyed HP2 against my roommate on his Xbox.. not because of the realism (or lack of), but because it was fun trying to get away from the cops and dodge the spike strips. It's always funny to see a spike strip by itself in the road with no cops nearby.

The handling in Porsche unleashed meant at least some skill was needed. Also NFS HP2 was completely unmodable. The best you could do was to re-skin the maps. Probably so they could release an expansion but the game sucked too much for them to bother.

Why not include more options so arcade handling, and damage modelling can toggled on and off.

I wish they had expanded a little and included Mustangs in the game. It would be a little unfair, but Mustangs are a large part of the Street Racing Underground. I drive a 2003 Mach 1, but I (and many others) would have loved to see at least a 2003 Mustang GT in the game. Gotta love that V8 power. Hell I was out the other night cruising the town and seen a Black 2002 Mustang GT all RICED out! It had 2 Huge 3" Soup Can Mufflers and what looked like a Body Kit that shoulda fit on a late model Supra. I bet it was even Turbocharged with HKS power. He sure beat my 305HP ass. Anyways, I think we should make the best of this and put up a Wishlist of cars we'd like to see in the Future. Try not to discriminate others choices, every person has different tastes.

2003 Mustang GT

Just add on to the list.

Nascar was/is fantastic. Especially since it was the only real game to support an analog Clutch and Direct Shift Capability (Hello Act-Labs Performance Pedals and GPL Sifter). I know NFS wont have an analog clutch, but direct select shifting would be ideal. Besides, everyone is waiting for NFS: U. The impression at E3 blew people away. Name a game where you can modify visually a LICENSED car? This is the first of its kind. Besides, hardcore racing fans play all racers at least once.

I heard the cars wont even scrach if you run into a wall at 160mph, bleh

Cops are fun if done right though(NFS:HP1) I hope they will be there in Underground otherwise it's going to be one hell of a boring arcade game.

Every hardcore PC race fan has extremely high hopes for a NFS game? About flashy import cars?

Yeah right.

The hardcore PC race fans are playing GPL, the last Papyrus NASCAR game, and Live for Speed. Yeah, it would be nice to have something new, but let's face it - NFS: Underground is going to be arcadish as all hell.

Absolutely no way in hell I would think of buying this without a demo, and a damn good one to redeem themselves from that crap NFS:HP2(budget title in disguise, without the aspirations). I played it once, uninstalled it, and destroyed it. Pure crap.
