Seems like most people who were interested already played this one. If you haven't though, check it out, it's cool. My copy of CoD should arrive pretty soon...

That's what this should have been called.

I played the first demo but it felt like "been there, done that" the entire way through. I was excited before the demo now it is on my buy from the bargin bin list.

The overly scripted WW2 games are getting real old.

Bring on Battlefield Vietnam.

So far I'm still into CoD, but the sequel better not be about Ww2. Or it should take place in an entirely different setting, like MOHPP does.

Anyway, the demos were great, and that's more than I've been able to say about any demo I've tried lately.

this game is scripted to hell and back... but it does allow for some fun missions - at one point, the sargeant is driving you and another soldier all through the countryside, through fences, up to tanks, then screeching off like a mad man - all the while letting you hang out the side and shoot your guns... its pretty fun in a canned sort of way

I'll be buying this for the multiplayer though

For Christ sake, how many demos are there now? I think I've read about some new CoD demo every two days or something... Feels that way at least.

I just dont get it - Whats so great about this game?`
When I played the first demo, I hadn't read any previews or any hype, I just downloaded it and played through it. Major "been there done that" vibe going on. And I, too, felt it was overly scripted.

Same ol same ol

Can you please tell me how you got to the car driving part? After I take out the mortars, the demo ends.

Considering the game is being made by most of the core developers of MOH that would be a fair assumption. However, EA owns the rights to the MOH franchise and the original developers wanted to take it in a direction that the corporate bigwigs at EA didn't. Therefore they broke off and started their own company, hence Call of Duty. And it's more realistic take on World War 2.
I think COD is going to be an amazing game made by great developers who already have a strong resume under their belts with MOH. I loved both of the demos released so far and look forward to the full game. This will be a much more realistic portrayal of WW2 being part of a greater whole rather than the sole hero.

You can't get to the car driving bit - that's the next mission (I presume), which isn't in the demo.

BTW, this is the second demo. Not that many!

actually, Ive played that part, as well as a british mission and a russian mission - coz they were on the COD promo CDs sent out to magazines for review

and its fun, but yes - HEAVILY scripted, im talking "Dragon's Lair" over here...

I only buy FPS for the multi-player anyways... I played SOF2 for 2 years straight without ever once playing a SP mission

game is pretty good, if you ask me (which you wouldn't of course)... but all missions I played were pretty short, so scripted or not, it should be very entertaining while it lasts - and that's what its supposed to be

so differs this demo somehow from the cover-mounted one ??

even though I think CoD is better than MoH, like others have said, its kinda boring in my opinion since it feels like we've done it already.

funny how a game can be technically and graphically superior, but us consumers can still say "ho hum"

I think I'll get it, but mostly because I never got MOH. I borrowed and played it (slap on the wrists) and it was good but... it felt lacking. This looks to fill a lot of the gaps. The squad driven gameplay looks awesome to me.

I figure it'll be what MOH would be if they released it now, and since I never played MOH much then, I shouldn't feel too much like I'm doing the same thing twice.

While its scripted it doesn't mean you can't change the outcome of what happens. For instance near the beginning when Private Johnson or whatever goes out and gets shot, you can walk out with him and trigger the bad guys early. He won't get shot in the doorway and will still be around to fight unlike if you let him go out on his own. Also blowing up the 2nd tiger early (by grabbing an extra panzerfaust before that section instead of running back to the church) doesn't allow as many german reinforcements to arrive.
