No DX: Invisible War SDK

A post to The ION Storm Forums indicates that there is not going to be a release of a Deus Ex: Invisible War SDK for mod authors (thanks DeusExZone) when the upcoming FPS/RPG sequel is released. Here's the deal:
there are currently no plans to release the SDK. it would take a long time to get them in a stable, usable state for release, and right now we're already switching the company's focus to shipping thief 3.

I wonder what the popularity of this game is going to be like. I allways assumed that the popularity of a game was defined by it's community. Then again, there are popular console games (which don't have any tools, I mean).
But it's highly probable that they turn around and release the tools at some time anyway because of high demand (as if they hadn't expected it).

When I first scanned this and saw the No DX part, I thought IW had been delayed...

Most developer tools are buggy and unstable. If you remember id used some of the wackiest programs to make Doom, and editing the game was almost entirely credited to patient fans. Besides, it takes too long to make tools that everybody can use. The editors most of us are used to are nothing compared to what they play with all day.

Deus Ex mods were few and poor and I really wasn't going to expect anything better this time around. Not a huge blow to me but it still would have been nice to have them. Just my opinion...

"the highly unstable tools...."

I hope that doesnt transfer in anyway into Dx2 being buggy, or too many corners cut to get around buggy tools.

If they aren't usable, what exactly are they using to build the game?

Answered two posts after the one I quoted:
