If it's done well, I agree about scripting. I'm not the type of person to play the same game or watch the same movie within a short period of time anyways. It's "been there done that" for me regardless of how much I enjoyed the game. I may replay it a year later but by that time I've forgotten most of it anyways.

Hopefully these are just tech demos because the action scenes and their 5 baddies at a time formula seems so old in comparison to CoD's sequences where you feel your actually going up against an entrenched or attacking force.

I do prefer games with more freedom but to be honest, as long as it is done well, I don't have a problem with scripted scenes. I think sometimes people consciously let the fact that they know it's scripted ruin it for them even on first attempt through, or assume that it won't be fun playing again. Certainly the experience is likely to diminish the more you re-play, but it's the same with any game I feel. All I know is I've played MoH and similar about two or three times over and still had a great time.

But games like MoH and Call of Duty are great because of their scripted scenes. Makes it feel like your in a movie. Although, replay value is limited.

to be honest with you these scripted WW2 games are aweful and its not just the MOH series... EA is coming out with some other WW2 fps that was demoed recently and it is equally crappy. The problem with these games is that there is no replay value, you have very limited freedom in the ways you can complete objctives and essentially the way you have to go from accomplishing A to B has already been determined for you.

With HL2 at least there will be some suprises thrown in since it has a SciFi aspect.

Its because of this I really admire games like Operation Flashpoint. Supposedly FarCry will have unscripted characters in large landscapes, hopefully it'll be good.

I just watched the tech video of the characters face. I think I can say it was the coolest thing I've ever seen!
