He did various levels of x-rays to my neck/back this morning, and everything seemed fine. He believes it just has to be a pinched nerve. I mentioned to him what Crispy said about his friend with a bad tooth never, and he said it is possible, as they are connected some. He decided to have me try some Valium, and if by 3pm that is not help any, he can get me in at a specialist before the end of the day , and have him look at it.

It also helps to take an anti-inflammatory to help the nerve calm down.

I have an endless supply of an extremely powerful anti-inflammatory, from my knee injury. He was having me take that along with everything else, but it was not helping either.


Here is hoping this helps, I would go try a chiropractor again, but I think even trying the same guy walking up the street might be a little risky on Valium, I have never taken the stuff. It has been 30 minutes after taking it, and nothing of any kind yet, no pain relief, or side affects….I am afraid trying all these various kinds of high powered drugs over a short period of time is going to kill my liver/kidney/whatever the hell processes it (I have gotten maybe a total of 6 hours of sleep since Sunday night, so forgive me for not knowing anatomy very well right now)

All the massages, the chiropractic attempt, co-pay for doctors visit and perceptions has completely zapped the money I was saving up for a new video card

Now that you mention it, he did say something about anit inflamatory. I looked once at drug store didn't know what to get so forgot about it after that, didn't give it much thought. How can I find a good chiro? If you speak the truth, I could have just gone to a chiro and he'd pop me back into good health? I'm not a rich guy, and my benefits aren't too great. I doubt my policy would cover going to a chiropractor.

That's the problem with some doctors when it comes to back pain, they only know how to treat part of the problem. What usually happens is something slips, pinches a nerve, and the muscles spasm both in pain and in a natural reaction to stop the slippage. The problem is that the vertebrae now can't straighten themselves back out because the muscles are holding them in this bad position. Plus the muscle spasm itself hurts also. This is why the doctor gives you the muscle relaxers. The problem with this approach is that there's no guarantee that the vertebrae will straighten themselves out without some help.

On the other hand, a good chiropractor realigns the vertebrae and lets the muscles relax naturally. It also helps to take an anti-inflammatory to help the nerve calm down.

I go with pinched nerve too. That's what my doctor told me, when I had the upper back/neck pain. I had it a few months ago, so severe that I could not sleep. Doctor gave me relaxer and a killer. Can't remember if either of them worked, but the pain lasted a little over a week. It would hurt if I turned my neck to a certain degree or look up or down. I drained all my energy, I sat in bed sweating when I couldn't sleep. It just went away, hopefully you have the same luck.

Alright, I could use some help here... starting yesterday, windows kept giving me blue screens of death, not the kind I've usually seen, but something about an error in windows, and it starts dumping physical memory to disk.

Well, that's about as vague as you can get. What does the error actually say?

I love cheeropractors (that's what I call them because they make me cheerful)!
I have 2 ribs that get out of alignment every now and then due to an accident several years back. They don't really hurt, but it definitely gets sore when it occurs. Going for an adjustment always makes me feel like a new man. I make a day of it once a month. Go to the spa, have a steam, have a massage, get my back cracked, come up shining like gold for the next month.

Dr. Steve: We don't actually crack backs. It's merely an adjustment...OK, you're going to hear a loud cracking sound.

Homer: Hey, it feels a little better.

Dr. Steve: I thought it might. Now I need to see you three times a week for many years

Heh, I went through several Chiros who always said the same thing. Those are the guys you know to avoid. A good chiro will tell you to come on when you feel you need it.

I tried a chiropractor as well, how-ever I have no idea how "good" he would be considered. I can say he has been in business for a good-while though. He was just conveniently located to me (read as, a house retro-fitted to be a business, three houses up the street!). But it is not an option I have ruled out, trying it again, or a different one.

I also did edit my post, to just refer to my user setting to get my email, it has been in the comments for a while, but with a way to trick email grabbing bots. I just wanted people to know that if they had an idea, but they did not want to get to personal in such a public place with past experiences, they could contact me privately.

Crispy, I will mention what you said to the Doc tomorrow, if he knows nothing about how to check into something like that, I am sure he can use his connections to get me into my dentist quickly.
I have only had one cavity in my life, and have always been blessed with great teeth (other the running in school hallways in 5th grade, tripping and chipping a tooth) But my family has a history of all kinds of nasty oral troubles, I always thought I just lucked out, but maybe I am just now starting to get trouble from it…who knows, but Like I said, I will try anything.

Find a good chiropractor. Hopefully you know someone who can recommend one.

Here's a quick personal history.

Apparently I was born with an extra vertebrae in my lower back. This has the effect of giving my lower back a slight curve making it unstable - in other words it'll never be strong and there's nothing much I can do about it.

When I was 13 I was walking down some stairs at school and felt a very small pain in my lower back. A half hour later I couldn't straighten up past 90 degrees. I saw doctors first in the emergency room and later, after it happened again and again, visited various doctors who never did anything or even sometimes made it worse. I even visited a chiropractor or two who also did nothing for me.

A few years later when it happened again I visited another chiropractor who had been recommended. He instantly diagnosed the problem that I was born with (no one else noticed) and actually fixed the problem. Talk about a revelation, up until meeting him I would be bedridden for days every time my back went out. I've been going to him ever since and he always fixes me up.

Good luck.

Edit: When I say he "fixed the problem" I just mean he made it feel better, he didn't do any surgery or anything. Also, after a successful chiropractor visit, I never feel any different, that's because the muscles still need to relax and the nerve that had been irritated needs to calm down and that can take a day or so.

Buddy of mine had almost exactly the same symptoms. Tried everything to fix it, nothing worked. 2 weeks later one of his teeth fell out and the nerve was all exposed and infected. Apparently, the nerve was connected in some way to his neck/shoulder. Go figure.

Ok, I need some help here.
Since last Friday my neck/upper back has been killing me. You might have noticed I have been posting less since then.
I have tried massages 3 ("professional") different times, not to mention repeated ones by my GF. I have been to the doctor, he had me try Skelaxian a muscle relaxer, nothing, Then tried Somo, a different muscle relaxers nothing. Then tried Tylenol 3, nothing. Have spent lots of time in a dry sauna, then tried steam sauna, nothing. Tried inverting my self (hanging upside down), As I have a thing to do that, normally it is very relaxing. Spent time in a whirlpool. Nothing helps

I have never had any trouble like this, I got no major stress doing on in my life right now, other then this. I am going to the doc again tomorrow, and see if he had any ideas or wants to try anything, but it is hurting so bad.

I have spent as little time at the computer, but no position I can get in eases the pain any, not laying, nothing.

I am willing to try any crazy thing, as If the doctor can not figure something out tomorrow, If it hits the weekend I am afraid I am going to have to go to the emergency room and get some damn Morphine shots or something.

Now, do not think I am a pain wussy here either, you have to remember I had a incredibly serious knee injury, and for a good bit of time it was quite often for my Knee to just dislocate on me, just while walking across the room.

I am a very relaxed person, and Like I said, I got no major stress going on right now.

If any of you have any experience with anything like this, or have known anyone, and has ANY idea as to try and relieve this pain, PLEASE LET ME KNOW
