Colony (thanks Frans) is the press release with news that Firefly Studios'
sci-fi management simulation has shipped to retail. Word is: "Space Colony
invites PC pioneers to establish and build cosmic settlements and manage a
dysfunctional crew of 20 characters while fighting off alien attacks and
attempting to make a profit."

yeah, strangely enough, I enjoyed the demo. maybe it was the sci fi backdrop...sims was so bland and sterile in my opinion. That and you had actual goals to perform instead of just "expand expand expand"

Say what you will; but I had a lot of fun with this demo. The humour was nice, and it took the good elemtns of the two main genres. The downside is that much of the advertising and promotion is focussing too heavily on the "Sims in Space" concept, which this absolutely isn't. Containing elements thereof does not make it especially similar, and it's unfortunate that by attempting to move in on the Sims market, they'll likely annoy many potential consumers in the process. I've played the Sims, I enjoyed The Sims... this isn't the Sims... not by a long shot; and it's all the better for it.
It's not the most wonderful game on Earth; but it is what a game ought to be to me: good, solid fun.

Nothing like some science fiction add the sims.. try the demo.. turns to tedious in T minus 5 .. 4 ... 3 ... 2 ...
I played the demo. It's a combination of "The Sims" and a sim building like sim city or something. Was cool, but not worth my $$
