Out of the Blue

I have to make a trip to Dr. Toothy today to follow-up on that tooth I cracked a couple of weeks ago... he says it's a minor thing, so here's hoping he's right. On the other hand, a change in plans has taken place, and we will not be traveling to the coast for a wedding this weekend, so today's minor interruption is on track, but this weekend's disruption has been disrupted.

Play Time: Google Sets. Thanks Bronco.

I think you should see 'Boys from Brazil', execellent pre-dental visit movie. And try not to think about that power outage right in the middle of getting that tooth drilled out. Be smart, insist on Cocanie, not Novacaine!

He claims he can patch it up with some tooth bondo or something...

Wow, two OotB links going to google... from two sources no less!

Obesity: The article said one in five people are now moderately obese. This is just getting ridiculous! They don't specify how fat you have to be to be called morbidly obese, though.

What luck the winner bidder must have. He's the proud new owner of C-3P0. I can't help but think of the places this droid has seen! The way he holds the driod as if he was just pulled from a dark orifice.

They don't specify how fat you have to be to be called morbidly obese, though.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003102.htm#Definition

"The term morbid obesity refers to patients who are 50-100% or 100 pounds above their ideal body weight. Alternatively, a BMI value greater than 39 may be used to diagnose morbid obesity."

Which means I personally can probably stand to gain about 140 pounds before I would qualify.

So one in fifty Americans are morbidly obese? That frightens me. Not that I know how to solve the problem, I'm thin by design (high metabolism) so I can't really offer any unrequested advice. But I suppose the bigger movie theater seats are nice, even if I have to sit between morbidly obese people.

I'm not impressed by the Google sets. I entered the set:

bluesnews
shacknews
ve

And I got the results:

Shacknews
Bluesnews
Voodooextreme
Stomped
TheTripleHelix

The Triple Helix?! Not only is it not gaming news, it hasn't been updated since mid-September. How disappointing. And then when you expand the set, you get fileplanet. That's kind of fitting, I guess.

I can offer some advice to them (in my particularly arrogant mood this morning): stop eating and feeding your kids so much friggin' shitty food. Ever heard of vegetables?

** as an aside, morbid obesity is bad, but obesity is worse since it is substantially more common (defn: BMI>30 percent) which is 50% of Americans...

I will continue to laugh at that for at LEAST a week, possibly more... I think the key point here is that it was entered MORE than once...
