Ships Ahoy: Max Payne 2 & Commandos 3

Rockstar Games Ships Max Payne 2 the Fall of Max Payne for PC (thanks Frans) is the press release announcing that Remedy's third-person shooter sequel is now appearing on North American store shelves. Also, Eidos sent word yesterday to expect Commandos 3: Destination Berlin to begin infiltrating North American retail space tomorrow (which would be today), though later in the same press release they refer to the availability of Pyro's WW2 combat sequel as starting on Wednesday (which would be tomorrow), so your mileage may vary.

The only thing, how will they fit it in the small boxes now a days. I guess they'll have to put it on the shelf by it like they did with the LK DVD if they do.

They have a much better solution. They just don't give away mousepad anymore. With all those price increase, they wouldn't want you to get the same product you were paying for two years ago... at 25% less (Actually, a lot less then that, but who cares!)

...Usually you see some reviews popping up before the game hits shelves, but I can't seem to find any for Max Payne 2.

So uhh, is it any good???

I kid. This game will rock like a dog humping a leg. Granted I didn't really "get" the campiness of the original, but I enjoyed the cinematic combat nonetheless. From the previews it would seem that they really put some effort into improving it this time around.

Yeah, I still have my mouse pad. Used it at work till I a couple weeks ago as I took it home to replace an old gray pad. Now I need a new one for work again, sure they don't skip that great bonus.

It caught on with that Lion King DVD release last week where they gave a free LK calendar mouse pad with it at BestBuy.

The only thing, how will they fit it in the small boxes now a days. I guess they'll have to put it on the shelf by it like they did with the LK DVD if they do.

Man it's awesome to see Max coming home tomorrow with hardly any hype at all! I give major props to Rockstar for keeping the lid so tight on this game and then releasing it QUICK with no delays... Others should take example. Also, the public and press are getting the game at the same time I think that is a smooth move too because it makes me think that they care about their public and want to give them the game ASAP. BTW I still am using my Max Payne mouse pad and I'll be giving the T-shirt I get tomorrow for preordering to my son (if they have a small size)... Glad to see ya Maxie I hope you kick some ass!

And yes, although Best Buy puts the new games up earlier, it is usually $10 cheaper for bigger titles, as some have said.

The number of warez? What is that supposed to mean? Less game? Less warez group?

Every game still gets released by one group or another (and every 'warez group', are still there) and the only thing that could've changed would've been to dealy the warez release by a few hours [and I'm generous here].

I don't agree, but it's not really a point worth arguing over, since I fundamentally don't agree with warez in the first place.

Edit : Bah, Max Payne 2 wasn't out here yet either. And tomorrow I'll be gone all day. Looks like my wife has some shopping to do for me

Actually, since the arrest of the Razor1911 head honcho, I'm pretty sure the number of warez has dropped considerably, at least as far as I could tell.

It's not surprising at all that the game hasn't been 'released' yet.

Anyway, the first game was great and if I'd still use a nouse pad, I'd be taking out my Max Payne mousepad just about now. (no, that doesn't make me any more of a geek, the mousepad came with the game mmmmk.)

I don't buy a ton of games each year -- I prefer to wait until the "best of the best" come out. Max Payne was one of those good ones for me. I started playing it right away and it captivated me all the way through. I'd play on weekends until I was as bleary-eyed as Max himself! It was a great "game noir" experience.

I hope Max Payne 2 is good as well. It certainly looks like it has all the atmosphere of the last one and then some. The updated graphics look really good and from the trailers at least it seems to have a high level of polish and good artwork.

And what's really weird is the game hasn't been warezed yet.

Makes you think doesn't it...

Since most of the warez groups work for places such as Best Buy, Gamestop etc, where they get their new titles from, it could also be that the game didn't get to the retailers until, say, today, and that the warez groups just haven't had time to crack it yet.

Or, they found a way to make it uncrackeable.

The Meaning of Existence,
by The Truth. (fits well)

I live to play games. (or, if you're feeling very edgy and existential, "I live ; to play games."

(make sure to include lots of screenshots from your new games).

Sweet thanks!

I could always do it on substinance ie:

I play games to Live!

Of course my only real alternative to actually pass with any semblance of a decent mark is to bite the bullet, and hire a young philipino boy to write it for me! im sure if i withhold food breaks he should have it done by the deadline. If not i can always hire another one.

The secret to shipping on time must be to make the sequel a copy of the original (add 5 more poly's for liability purposes)

/me imagines the Remedy staff furiously adding a "2" to stacks of Max Payne boxes with magic marker.

OK, enough on when it will be available and where. How about, has anyone tried them yet and is either worth buying. I'm mainly aiming at Commandos 3, I would like to get a good opinion from a hardcore Commandos fan. Cheers.

A game that ships on time? The end must be nigh..

Either that or it's a buggy piece of crud. Given the alternative, I hope the end is nigh.

BestBuy.com doesn't show a release date anymore, only add to cart, as if they have it instock. The PS2 and Xbox versions say pre-order for example. I don't remember them advertising it in sundays paper, I wonder why. But all the online MP2 ads say in stores the 15th.

BestBuy usually has the game 2-3 days after the release date at the most. And ususally it's $10 off, or at least by the next advertisements.

Gamestop seems to put more priority shipping on games and will tell you the time they expect the package to arrive. I bought Halo around 1:30pm there a day before BB got it, though I paid a full $50. Gamestop is reall good at getting things to people as soon as possible. They'll choose next day shipping, and on big titles, such as FFX or GBA unit, there will be a line there hrs ahead waiting for the shipment to arrive and then sell it right out of the delivery box at the register.

FFX was an hr late I remember,They got a call from their delivery service of the delay. There were a couple pist off people who were there several hrs and didn't have time to stay that unexpected extra 1-2hrs because of work and such.
