Out of the Blue

Not to startle anyone too badly by bringing up gaming in this space, but I want to comment on my mild frustration that there are so many great BF1942 mods out there that there aren't enough people to play some of them. My comrades and I are currently fairly obsessed with Eve of Destruction, but it can be tough finding an appealing game out there. I'm thinking the popularity of Desert Combat probably has something to do with this. Speaking of frustration with BF1942, since I'm rolling: What's with that auto-team balancing option? Yes it can be annoying being on a team outnumbered two-to-one, but those situations usually work themselves out... I find it far more problematic to be switched to the other team every time I die (which can be frequent with me), especially since it does so without any noticeable warning... I've even killed teammates after respawning before realizing I'd been drafted by their side.

Blue, you need to tell us your online name so we can all hook up, sorta like a board fight.

That would be sweet. We should totally organize bluesnews matches. I play DC and EOD under the name JediLuke. I played Basrah's Edge for hours last night.

edit was working fine for me until now.. i kept hitting back after the edit thing didn't work and tried it over and over until it worked

When you post/click submit, if you get it in at the first few seconds of a particular minute, and then try to edit within that same minute, it will not let you. But after that minute on the server changes, it should let you edit. That is the only problem I have had with not being able to edit, but it is not really a problem as it is intentional.

Do not keep clicking edit, back, edit, back, over and over, it is just a waste of Blues bandwidth and server resources. Just give it time to roll over the minute, and then edit.

n00b weapons.. aka every weapon except a sniper rifle right

Nope, just the rocket launcher and the grenade launching rifle. I was a big SMG fan. Public servers just turned into huge matches with those two weapons. I should have joined a clan, but I don't have enough time.

What happened to the edit? I know it was disabled, but then it was enabled, and now it's disabled again?

*sigh*

I almost never get a post right in the first try. Oh well.

Edit: Sure, now edit works...

I actually like Medal of Honor's multi. No one ever talks about it but a ton of peeps play it. Hrmph...

So do I. Used to play it quite a bit too--I'm a force to be reckoned with, especially in Destroyed Village. Stopped playing not too long ago though, I finally got sick of the n00b weapons in it.

there's no AAA in bf.. i don't think it was invented then and if it was i don't think the US would send the AAA in to fix the vehicles on the front line.. if you need to repair your car in that game just use an engineer's wrench

Anyway, DC is nice, I absolutely can NOT be beaten on the Battle of 73 Eastings map. I own it like there's no tomorrow...There was a map I was playing in regular BF1942, forget which one, it was a desert map, I managed to snag the B-17 and stayed up bombing the crap out of the other side for a good half an hour! AAA finally brought me down, I don't know how but it did...

Blue, you need to tell us your online name so we can all hook up, sorta like a board fight. (oooh, bring Fred and Soupkin too! Finally, we can have some revenge, even if it's virtual) I can be found on the 'Brotherhood of Soldiers' (BOS) server under, what else, Rigs...

Then again, I just got out of an exam so all my brain power has been used up for the day.

Dude, I sympathize, I did 2 of them (both Math no less) in 2 days last week, and my brain is still reeling from the strain.

Back to the original oldest american thread, I was going to post in here something to the effect of just because she was the oldest US citizen doesn't mean that she couldn't have been born outside of the US (or for that matter before the US was formed...). Then I actually read the article and saw that she was born in Pennsylvania....

plus Dantastic keeps saying how it causes frame rate hits, which I really can't afford (my PC is lower end than his).

hehe athlon xp 1600+ for life one day i will have my barton 2800+

Soupkin has the 2 GHz Athlon XP and never has the framerate issues that I usually do. We tried playing FH the other night and he couldn't stand the framerate at all.

No, it is not as feature rich as BF1942, true.

Does Britain celebrate the 4th of July?

I thought it was more like "Does Britain have a 4th of July?" The 'celebrate' part is what's making me wonder, but I don't think my wording is right. Then again, I just got out of an exam so all my brain power has been used up for the day.

The forklift pic is in the same directory as that IOTD one. Just look in there. There's some weird stuff in there. The drunk.jpg or whatever it's called is really creepy - makes my head hurt to look at it.

Yes. Too many good mods and so little time to play.
Yes. I also hate the balance-mod. That team-balance just doesn't work. Send it back to the programmers.

Hehe.
Play-on!
