I played halo on the xbox 2 years ago, and now I've played the pc version. Back then I thought it was a good game (not great) with, basically, the best graphics you could get (showed off all the features than my PC GF3 wasn't using in pc games at the time). Now it's on the PC, it's still a good game, but graphically, it's a DX8 game that's been upped to DX9 just so they could use the pixel shader 2.0 format...I can see the difference, but it doesn't look any better, and this may suggest why the game runs so crap...it may have run better if they wrote it just for DX8, which they might as well have, casue they didn't increase the poly count on any of the models or the scenery, so it just looks pretty poorly modeled at higher resolutions. Plus they didn't seem to increase the model texture sizes, which makes the character's faces looked whashed out and crap (even sof2 faces seem to have higher texture quality) ...so it really makes you wonder about the quality of the port...if it ran like most playstation ports (lightning fast on even a crappy system) then I wouldn't whinge....but c'mon...we're PC Gamers goddammit...and we demand frames! cause we PAY for the all the bloody horsepower to run these things, and many of us PAYED for a GF3 to play halo on back b4 we knew it was going to X-Box! So yeah...i think we have a right to whinge...and yeah...halo sux.
