I've heard that they've gotten better since eBay bought them out. Unfortunately it's difficult at best to do any type of business on ebay unless you "do" PayPal.

Not using a reserve is good, and bad
The problem with out a reserve is that if someone does it for $101, you gotta(sorta) sale it for that.
Also, you should do a "Buy Now" for something like $350. And point out the fact that new it goes for around $800 for good sale price! That might convince someone to just do the buy now. Your rating is not gonna help you, but that’s life.
Also, if you are wanting $200 dollars, start it at $200 dollars, and really EMPHASISE the higher price for a new copy!!! Show people that this is a great deal, that they will not come across often, they are more likely to snatch it up! As, if you are hoping for just $200, that is really a damn good deal for the buyer! As long as it is in as good of shape as you say.

Also, I'm trying to get $200 for it... any idea what to set the starting bid at? I definately won't use a reserve auction next time.

I'd seen some go for high prices, even with the reserve, but I guess I'm just not as lucky/effective/cool/hilarious as the person who ran that auction.

Reserves make a big difference. Another issue is your low feedback. I won't bid on items sold by people with real low feedback.

I've sold everything from computer games to childrens clothes on ebay. When placing auctions think about what day of the week they end on. People may have more time to bid on weekends.

Good or bad, all the speculation adds up to free hype that all the marketing dollars on earth couldnt buy.

Yeah, I can't wait to hear the impending riot when Sept 30th rolls around. People are gonna be pissed. If Valve wants to score UBER points with the community, they'll release a FREE beta of HL2 on Steam (and only Steam, no doubt) Sept 30th...and since it runs through Steam, they can turn it back off anytime they want.

Sorry to hear about your auction Bunko...the sticker on the front says it includes a copy of NT 4.0? I didn't see you mention that anywhere (although I just scanned it). I'd point that out if I were you.


edit: Checked again and I see you DO mention it. But I'd make it it's own bullet point. Make people think they're getting a hell of a deal like "INCLUDES Windows NT 4.0!!! OMFG!!!", etc...

Two things to learn about eBay, if you don't know them already:

1) Reserve prices are nearly always a bad thing. If you want a lower limit on bids, just make the starting bid that amount. Reserve prices invariably just put people off.

2) 90% (note randomly chosen high proportion) of bidding activity happens within the last hour of an auction.
