DOOM 3 Interview, Shots

There's a DOOM 3 Q&A on Computer and Video Games (thanks Frans) with some brief impressions of id Software's upcoming shooter sequel/remake after getting a demo from lead designer Tim "Willets" Willits along with their conversation with id CEO Todd Hollenshead. Topics include how this project fits in with the prior DOOM games, multiplayer, the game engine, ports, and more. Accompanying the article are a couple of new screenshots.

but... you have him in the title?

Kevin was incredulous. When he went back to the Warner Brothers studio, they asked him "is Jon still talking about the giant spider?" He found out that Jon Peters had attended open house at his kid's school and learned that spiders are the fiercest creatures in the animal kingdom.

Is google cheating?

ps. Doom3 and HL2 look to be great games. I dont understand this fanboy "soandso sux" or "this > that" pap, theyre games, it's not like theyre women who will get annoyed if you try another one. Dont like the look of one, dont buy it or wait for the demo or whatever, quit whining about it like you're trying to convert others to your point of view. It just makes you look desperate and silly.

Chapter 10
The blinding darkness overwhelmed the man. He reached for his lucky thumbnail he had attached to the inside of his ear. It was gone. The man was histarical due to the loss of his lucky charm. The only thing left for the suspect to do now was to follow the blinking football player that was calling his name. The football player was absolutely frightning. There he stood with his nine iron in hand waiting for the next round of fishing. His huge eyebrows seemed to dance as he stared the suspect down in his bowl of cottage cheese. Humiliated, the suspect gave into the
demands of the football player and joined him while he danced a jig. One wouldnt think a football player could dance in the clogs that were made of jell-o, especially in the attire the football player donned. With his racing suit colorfully decorated with the sponsors of local paper clip companies, the football player told the man to leave if he would not participate in the annual "DOG BEATING FESTIVAL". The dog beating festival was just irratating. There were thousands of dog lovers lovingly beating their neighbors dogs. "Sick." the man said to one dog lover. "What good does it do to cover the animals in baking soda?" The suspect needed answers, and he needed them quick.

LOL!!!! Well I can't agree with you guys more. This Gog dude got his movies mixed up & now acts like he doesn't pay for anything. What a fucking piece of shit pirate fag fuck! I hate faggot pirates like this little girl bitch ass. It's people like this fuckrag that causes smaller companies to buckle under. I think he should get a job & pay for things like a normal person, or get his ass busted for piracy & then get his ass busted by Bubba. Anyway, it's his loss, movies on the computer look like shit anyway.

"- the Spider is completely lame as an antagonist... its basically a rip off of the facehugger from the Alien series. Although Alien is clearly an influence (you can find many other examples in their videos/shots), there is no reason why they couldn't come up with something more orignial."

I see the redone pinkie monster as having an Alien influence, but the spiders have absolutely nothing to do with the face huggers from Alien. It's actually from John Carpenter's "The Thing", complete with the upside-down head. Man that movie rocked!!

i've been trying to dl The Thing for the past couple of months but haven't been able to find it unfortunately. Considering that its such a cult classic I'm suprised that its so hard to find online.

The Thing was released 3 years after Alien, and who knows what was the inspiration for the head with legs.

Regardless, my point was that videogames is a media in itself and it has no need to rely on other media (whether movies or books) to come up with new material.

there are far better, lesser known bands out there than those washed up losers.

Why waste time with a post like that if you can't at least provide some examples of these lesser known bands?

You know, back up your statement with some facts?

I'm always looking for new music/bands.

Doesn't anyone here remember that spiders are not new to the DOOM universe? As long as they attack from the walls/ceiling/etc., that will make them different enough for me.

If anything, the DOOM3 engine makes me drool over the possibilities of seeing a future System Shock 3 running on it. That would be a match made in heaven.

LOL, wow that would indeed be pretty cool...I think. I'm a fan of the band (I saw them at their first UK gig in '93, and every time they've played over here since bar one or two dates), but if this rumour is true, then I really hope it's not a 'song' as such.

I think it would be instrumental in nature. Maynard is busy with APC for at least the next 6-10 months. I'm guessing the other members of Tool are busy writing and recording for the next album.

There are rumors of a live DVD for this Christmas.

Still, if anyone else can pull off that kind of stuff it's Adam Jones et al. By far the most moving stuff (IMHO) on Lateralus is Disposition and Reflection - slow, repetitive, hypnotic... Reflection was the absolute high point the last time I saw them live.

I enjoyed the Parabol - Parabola sequence the most.

One of the better live acts around.

Was getting carried away there, it is only supposedly one track they're doing after all. Anyway, I've since heard some rumours that Trent is still doing\has done the score.

I doubt the validity of this but it would be great if it were true.

Ever since it was announced that Trent Reznor was involved I've been looking forward to a return to the awesome atmospheric style of the original Quake soundtrack. Since Trent is no longer involved I'm concerned that they may not go in that direction for the score, which would be a shame.

Still, if anyone else can pull off that kind of stuff it's Adam Jones et al. By far the most moving stuff (IMHO) on Lateralus is Disposition and Reflection - slow, repetitive, hypnotic... Reflection was the absolute high point the last time I saw them live.

I can't believe that there are people out there who aren't looking forward to this. I don't care that there may be better games around by the time Doom III comes out - I just know that it's going to be a bloody good game.

Honestly some of you lot think that you're only allowed to buy either HL2 or D3, and the question that dogs the world is which to side with. Just get them both and enjoy them both for what they are.
