Actually according to the cheat sites, all you had to do was press "r" during those scenes to get 1024 knights.
Personally I was a huge fan of the Nintendo version even if it was pretty ugly. (Not as ugly as the PC version certainly)

Arg, I've just tryed the demo and it's an awful game. The only "playing" I did was to 'raid' caravan. read: You're stuck in a tree and shoot people as they pass by. Buut's it's way too hard [and boring] to aim properly. There seems to be more to the game from the trailer at the beginning of the demo, but if I have to play trough that to get there, then it's not worth it.

I spent a summer on a couch in an apartment in Virginia playing Defender of the Crown on the Commodore 64. Looking at vids for this new incarnation really brought back the memories of that time.

But it won't be the same if the damsels don't disrobe for you.

It's all vague since I was like 10 at the time, but I remeber in the Amiga version if I banged on the keyboard (or was it clicked like mad on the screen?) during the comptuers turn, I'd end up with more knights in some of my territories. Still don't know if that was a bug a or a cheat I stumbled across...

I must have played the original Defender of the Crown a billion times over, it was great fun in it's time, even though the gameplay was a bit limited. Then again, what could you expect on a, gasp, Amiga 500.

I'm really looking forward to see if Cinemaware can capture that feel of the original, if so, I'll most likely shell out for it.

However, this demo and all it's "you have to install spyware" crap is just bullshit. Cinemaware, don't die a second time before your rebirth is even complete. Only Valve can pull shit like this off without going under...

This is the lamest game demo I've ever tried, and I haven't even played it yet! Not only is it exclusive to a site you have to register to and requires an activation code, but each user is directed to a webpage for thier unique key obtained when you enter a code from an image. Then you have to agree to this digital rights garbage:

This application requires the installation of the ez pad end-user interface (version 2.0.1.017 or later) to check your software usage rights and allow you to communicate with the vendor.

If you don't install ez pad you will not be able to run the application.

The original 80's game was a classic, but it seems like Cinemaware wants to control its users just like Microsoft does. I don't think I'm going to agree to this agreement, meaning it won't let me play the demo. Oh well.

Ahh, fun little demo. Likely will be a fun game.

Too bout about the rest…I'm not sure the Capcom or FilePlanet deserve our money for that "activation" crap!

If that wasn’t enough, it would seem there’s some confusion regarding the purpose of a game demo... or perhaps strong arming some -- internet access required "activation" = tracking when you dl AND play their demo -- not to mention, alienating the rest who wisely don't bother to download exclusives, no matter how short the exclusivity may be, seems a good way to do business.

<shakes head>

For the record, I enjoyed this demo. Look forward to the full version. However, the FP activation has me seriously thinking I should cancel my subscription (which I get for the 400/sec downloads with no lines, NOT exclusives)!

>>Oooooo a no name game<<

Defender of the Crown is hardly a "no name". Well perhaps it is to you kids but the original was a legendary classic that sold millions of copies and was released on numerous platforms. A favourite of many.

Oooooo a no name game that I would actually try if it wasn't such a hassle with downloading from shitplanet and being forced to activate it.

I don't fucking activate game demos, it's fucking beneath me. Please. It's a fucking demo. You should be paying me to try it not putting obstacles in my way.

Eat shit fileplanet and eat shit Robin Hood, I'm sure I am wrong and you are a guaranteed best seller. HAHAH.

Therefore, another demo that I won't be seeing.
