Out of the Blue

With immeasurable sadness, our family had to let go of my mom yesterday. She died at 3:35 p.m., leaving a hole in my and many other lives that can never be filled.

Thanks to all of you who have expressed kind thoughts on the subject of her condition. She was a strong believer of the importance of community, and was quite familiar with her identity here as MamaBlue, and she would have considered the support so many have shown to be a fine example of the benefits of a communal spirit. Likewise, my own thoughts are with the many of you who have described your own families' struggles with illness -- you have my sympathies.

Finally, thanks to Frans for his help catching up on today's news. I'm sure there are many questioning the need for me to jump back into this so soon, but it's been a good distraction, and with a funeral this weekend I really wanted to clear my plate to keep the backlog of news from being stressful and to prevent it from getting any more overwhelming.

Blue, as Im sure you know, life is a cycle. One day we will all return to the mother earth, and our spirits will soar. It is the way of things. You have to deal with the loss you feel, and the loss that others feel - but your mom is free! She is at peace, and lightyears beyond our "state of Bush" and what it has wrought.

I'm so very, very, sorry to hear that Blue. Your family will be continue in my prayers.

You do whatever makes you happy, but don't feel like you have to keep the site up for the sake of the site. (I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here) But your family comes first. Do whatever you need to do. You can come back to this at anytime.

Words fail me at this point..."I'm sorry" just doesn't seem to be enough. May God bless your family.

all I can give is the advice a nurse in the nursing home my Mom is currently living the rest of her days in. try to remember the good times and don't dwell on the end which is negative. She lives on in you and everyone she touched so in that respect, she'll always be nearby.

My heartfelt condolences.

Sorry to hear it Blue.

I just had a similar case of a 75 yo male who was very healthy (he biked on his stationary bike each night).. his daughter found him this morning at 8am with the bike tipped over and him lying next to it. I scanned his head and he had a stroke as well... the family decided to remove life support and I pronounced him at 3:44pm today...

...my mother went in a very similar manner 11 months ago.

This sort of thing is so damn common, and so damn disheartening. It makes you remember how fragile life really is.

It's so cliche to say "enjoy your health while you have it" but nothing can be more closer to the truth.
