I agree entirely with you about "impacted" it is a dreadful construction. I equally disagree with 'to e-mail', what is wrong with to send an email? Or perhaps to write/compose one. I don't letter people - I write them letters (and no I don't promise to 'write you' either).
Mind you I also make telephone calls instead of phoning but that battle is well and truly lost.
