You have to wonder how it's possible that a company like Valve, that did everything right up to now, i.e., kept quiet for 5 years and just worked on HL2, not making anybody anybody else's bitch, being incredibly generous answering questions from the press and fans, loads of in-game movies, creating a sequel that looks to maybe even surpass the original--how they could so totally screw up what looked to be an incredible sure thing. It's because with HL2 they could. There's no way they could have put Steam over on the public without the power of HL2 behind it. You gotta give them credit for taking the risk. Gambling something like HL2 on this Steam racket.
No, I can't say for sure they screwed up, but it's sure looking that way. We can only wait and see if their gamble pays off or if they ruined one of the greatest events in gaming history.
